The Af Mechanica

The Af Mechanica are the zealots of the Broken Goddess and the idolists of machinery. Long ago founded by fanatics intending to restore their goddess to form, the Cult of the Machine has expanded dramatically in scope and grandeur. They have many goals, including restoring their god, discovering the secrets to creating new warforged, achieving immortality through iron perfection, and unearthing the lost technology and magic of ages long past.

The Iron Words

The cult is widespread and varied in its individual sects, but all hold fast to these beliefs (although they are often interpreted differently between sects)
  1. Flesh is divinity, corrupted
  2. Iron is flesh, perfected
  3. Our flesh is apostate; our iron is divine
  4. Our flesh is broken; our iron is whole
  5. Our flesh is weak; our iron is strong
  6. Our flesh is deceitful; our iron is true
  7. Our source is flesh; our goal is iron

Structure

The Afmech are disorganized across its sects, but within each sect, it functions like a well-made machine. Each Sect answers only to the Iron Voice, and not to each other, although a few sects have seceded from the Iron Voice's influence, willingly or not. The hierarchy of the organization can be loosely described as follows:
  1. The Iron Voice
  2. Iron Hand
  3. Artificer
  4. Archcomplete
  5. Complete
  6. Ironsworn
  7. Idolist (Any member of the cult)
  8. Apostate (Anyone outside the cult)
  9. Rusted One (Any enemy of the cult)

Public Agenda

The overall cult has only 2 goals: the spread of its doctrines and the pursuit of perfection.

From flesh we are born, to iron we march forward

peaceful hostility

The Confederacy actively despises any who do not fall under the Confederate Church, but the Af Mechanica is helpful enough and small enough that the COnfederacy usually pays them no mind.
