Luria Frostfang

A huntress known for her steady hand, Luria Frostfang has earned her keep as Captain of the Wild Hunt, leading the Frostide Expedition into The Alderwood. A practical and demanding leader, she is a woman of few words but striking facial expressions — and her displeasure is easy to see. Her rules are quite simple: if you wish to survive the Hunt, then do as Mother Wolf says. Your death won't be on her conscience if you don't.

She is constantly in the companion of Sera'nos, her fluffy white direwolf, who seems to be sociable enough for the both of them.

Background

Having risen quickly through the ranks of The Wild Hunt due to her unparalleled skill with both bow and blade, Luria guards her past fiercely, rarely sharing personal details even amongst her closest companions. She developed a kinship with a young Fernando de Loeffre when he was a fresh-faced recruit, with the elf quickly becoming one of her most trusted advisors.

When Ursha contacted the Hunt to further investigate the strange beasts emerging from The Alderwood, Luria was selected to lead the expedition northward. The mission was taken at Luria's insistence: seeking the opportunity to visit a land closely tied to her ancestry, even if the Hunt was not typically in the business of leaving the Rangarwood. Success rests on her shoulders, and she is not in the business of failure. She believes the Hunt will get results, no matter how hard she has to push her clan in the process.

Campaign: Wither & Bloom

As the party made a fast impression upon the Hunt, Luria lingered in the background to observe the newcomers' methods and results, focusing instead of preparing the entirety of the Hunt for the beginning of their long journey. Following their initial confrontation with Meredith Stormguard, Luria finally formally introduced herself to the group. She insisted they were not being punished for their interloping: instead, she hoped they continued investigating the strangeness of The Rookery. She only requested they do a better job of not getting caught, but allowed them to carry on with her blessing.

As the Hunt marched toward Sanctum, Luria placed more responsibility onto the party's plate, pleased with their initiative. She tasked them with a scouting mission on the outer perimeter of The Alderwood, answering only to Fern. The mission was a mixed success, but Luria praised the party for their aid: knowing full well that had they not been recruited, it would have gone far worse.

No longer content allowing her hunters to continue to fail, Luria and Fern led an elite group of hand-picked huntsmen to lead the initial charge into the Alderwood. Though the choice was given to accompany Luria to Helgamut, an ancient tree at Alderwood's heart believed to be the root of the corruption, the party instead chose to accompany Fern and his journey to Fortitude, hoping to enlist the aid of the Knights of the Stone Wheel. Her current status is unknown.

Appearance

Considering the reputation preceding them, Luria cuts a rather unassuming silhouette. Slight and short, they pack their muscle in tightly into a 5'5" frame. Their skin is teal-grey, with a face bearing the dark markings of the Frostide Goliath clans, though their orcish heritage is clear, with sharp tusks and an slightly upturned nose. Their eyes are golden brown slits, cat-like in their intensity. Bone-jewelry pressed tightly against their skin: necklace, earring, and tusk adornment alike, nearly breaking the surface. Their hair is dark blue, tied into tight locs, with the sides of their head clean-shaven, allowing the tattoed markings to wrap around toward their temple.

Her white wolf is constantly lurking at her side, the duo walking in perfect sync weaving through her owner’s legs — but unlike the owner, the warg’s tail wags in excitement, and her eyes are soft and playful, always eager to say hello.

Sera'nos

The bond between ranger and beast companion is a most sacred bond, and Sera'nos and her owner are constantly in sync. Having spent the bulk of their lives together, the move as one when threatened — even if you cannot make out the snow-white wolf, she is most assuredly close enough to strike. The warg is friendly, but the threat is evident: sharp fangs and sharper claws, with preternatural dexterity and a second sense for danger. Though she would much rather lay on your feet and beg for scratches, given the choice.

Sera'nos means 'sister wolf' in oro'kyr. All but Luria's closest allies are expected to refer to the beast as Nos, with Sera part of the private bond between the pair.

Relationships
  • Glimmer Silksong: Though they keep their camp away from the Hunt's main encampment, Glimmer has made several attempts to bond with the Hunt-Captain. They are receptive to the company, entrusting Glimmer with a request to locate a gem-encrusted bowl to cook a Heroes' Feast prior to the expedition to the Alderwood.
  • Fernando de Loeffre: Rarely needing to showcase their connection, the duo are in constant communication and aware of the other's intentions. Luria trusts him with their life, and the feeling is reciprocated without question.
  • The Dungeon Scouts: Despite their young age, Luria has taken quite a liking to the Scouts and has personally been training Coy Sharpe with her archery.
Trivia
  • Though she is full-blooded oro'kyr, her tattoos imply goliath ancestry. It is typically the other way around, with goliaths aware of their distant orcish ancestry.
