Guidgen Mountains
The Guidgen Mountains are a small mountain range in the Province of Karkebi, North of the Headless Highlands, there is a large forest there made of mostly pine and holly, and a lot of godsibbs there. In the middle of the Guidden Mountains is the Atelier Benjoin Karkebi, but their territory stretches over a large portion of Minor Sealtland.
What are your non-earth-like geographical features in your setting?
- It is full of caustic materials as well as flint, particularly aespestos and quartz, so the mountains seem like a strange glittery white due to the way the sunlight passes through clouds and hits the prism-like mountains
- Obsidian and Dalmation jasper caves due to presences of heat and sulphur near some hydrothermal vents along Catha's Crown (Western Islands)
What’s the general “lay of the land” of your active worldbuilding area?
- The soil is very rocky and the entire area is covered in a tundra, with concentrations of pine and holly in the valleys
- There is a fjord carved by a glacier that is extremely fertile and has a budding community near the end of the mountain range
- Saltwater, a lot of Brine Pools and Caustic Mining places
- There are some oil pools but they've been barred from public after the fall of the empire
- Northeast shares the Northwest edge of the Eskern Forest, has somewhat become genetically distinct
- The Laudine Fjord separates the Eskern-Guidden forest (also known as Laudine Forest) with the Lug's Ridge Forest
- Lug's Ridge Forest is a peninsula of cliffs(?) on which a forest grows alongside some Gall Orchards
- It is one of the only places to get Hexen-eyes and their native home
And what is the climate or environment like, in your active worldbuilding area?
- Island/Maritime climate mixed with Mountain climate has made for an Extreme Weather Zone
- This is known as the Morvoren Weather Zone
- Extremely hot summers due to the atmosphere and presence of saltwater, and mining
- Extremely cold, dry winters and violent storms
- This extreme weather zone begins in the Guidgen Mountains and reaches as far North as Malew and Raudan
Next, What is the ecosystem & habitat like in your active worldbuilding area?
- Very few annuals can survive in this weather system, so many of their plants are slow-growing perrenials or biennials
- This is a popular home for the Primitive/Lesser sapient creatures, and home to a species called the Hominicula who are related to Maydens, they are primitive bugs who have taken a shot of electricity while infested in a Mayden body
- Much of the ecosystem revolves around them and the Godsibbs in their area
Finally, what natural resources are found in your active worldbuilding area?
- The mountains contain the following:
- Heavy Metals - Lead, Silver
- Citron - Pine resin, Amber, Humic Acid, Formaldehyde, Fermented Veg/Fruit
- Flint - Quartz, Stormglass?
- Brimstone - Sulphur, Evaporite
- Brine - Salt, Evaporite
- Slow growing vegetables that are deemed "safer" for Northern climates
- Hominicula labour
- Wood for Hexen
- Organic waste
