Arcane Amplifier

Arcane Amplifiers are magical constructs that increase the potency of Arcane energy stored within Mana Stones . First discovered at the beginning of the Age of Arcana, Arcane Amplifiers were part of the base technologies behind the Floating Cities and were considered era-changing in their impact. However, with the Ruin of the Floating Cities, the fall of the Age of Arcana, and the slight changes to the makeup of the Weave, the blueprints for creating such technologies were lost to the later Ages.

However, in more recent decades, The Noble House of Fenbrook has invested a lot of time and money into the study of Arcane Amplifiers for the purposes of furthering research and development into more efficient methods of transport. Their current focus of study is in Arcane Ships and Arcane Airships, being a merchant family at their core, though it is believed that they may turn their attentions to the installation of Amplifiers into land-based machines if their experiments are considered successful. The Schola Arcana in Curtana has also been studying the possibility of manufacturing Arcane Amplifiers as power sources or as portable Amplifiers of personal magic, using House Fenbrook's experiments as a baseline for their studies. However, these lines of study have yet to yield any results.

While the rediscovery of Arcane Amplifier technology is expected to change the future, much as it led to the Age of Arcana, the current iteration is massively unstable, and few safe examples have been successfully crafted.

The only current use for Arcane Amplifiers is upon Arcane Ships, of which there are only six in existence. Four of these belong to House Fenbrook, who are leading the way in terms of innovation into the technology, while the remaining two were gifts to the Marshall's Office of Kaldor Vahn and the Envoy's Office of Cnuic Ghlainne. Arcane Amplifiers are still considered too dangerous for general use on land.

Discovery

While the original Arcane Amplifiers are attributed to a team led by the Gnomish Artificer, Dimitrios Konstantinos, the current research into the technology is being undertaken by a research team within House Fenbrook, with a small team at the Schola Arcana benefiting from it.

Utility

The utility potential of Arcane Amplifiers is considered extremely high, with many possible applications. However, the instability of the current technology means that it is difficult to predict where these constructs could find use, though experts in magic and magical artifice suggest that perfection of such technology could change the future, and further increase the wealth and prestige of House Fenbrook.

Manufacturing

The manufacturing process is currently a well-kept secret that has only been shared between the research team of House Fenbrook and a small research department of the Schola Arcana.

Social Impact

In the Age of Arcana, the invention of the Arcane Amplifiers changed the course of history, and their rediscovery is slated to do the same once again. Expert opinion suggests that the correct application of Amplifiers throughout society could assist in bettering the daily lives of the Common folk, though this does rely heavily on the technology being perfected. At the current time, it is considered too dangerous for use on land, and is only authorised for use at sea due to the low likelihood of collateral damage in case of failure of the technology.
