The wizarding profession takes a floral approach in Brightfield!
Floramancy
Wizards throughout the world often develop their own individualized magical crafts, and the wizards of Brightfield have carved out their own delicate niche throughout history, in the form of floramancy.
Flashy Druidcraft
Floramancers are often confused with druids by the uninitiated, seeing the manipulation of flowers and drawing their own conclusions from there. Brightfield wizards were the ones who pioneered the magical artform, but the craft has spread to numerous other lands with time. This proficiency in interacting with flowers and other flora through wizardry is often believed to be the method by which Brightfield remains ever in bloom through the warm months of each year with consistent returns of all of the land's unique species, no matter how much needs to be gathered by the local artisans.
Druidcraft does appear to be on the rise in the region, however, with some speculating that it's stepping on the toes of the wizards' activities throughout the region.
The Sole Bloom
Though there have been numerous wizards practicing in Brightfield throughout history, only one remains, and many fear he may be the last in his line. The profession is one that needs to be passed down from wizard to apprentice, but the present wizard of Brightfield has grown quite old already, without ever taking on an apprentice yet in all his years.
Past wizards of this locale would take on numerous apprentices, building a wider community of floramancers who would each take on their own apprentices. Over time, each one started taking on fewer, some abandoned their craft in favor of alternate pursuits, and some simply aged out of practice.
Many folks living in Brightfield look at the role of wizard in their community with interest and sparkle, some striving to impress the aging wizard enough that he may take them as an apprentice. Despite the desire and interest shown, none of the aspirants seem to be what he is looking for in the next great floramancer.
