Craft a bright new world, in Ayun Sovos!

Artisan

Whatever it is you need, you can count on me to make the best and most beautiful you'll ever lay eyes on!
— Promise of an artisan
The artisan is the partner profession to the Adventurer, and both have many different subtypes and definitions! There's no doubt, however, that the artisans tend to find themselves to be a much more diverse group, as far as the many different paths they might take in their professions.

Heart and Soul of the World

To be an artisan in Ayun Sovos is to pour your heart, soul, and endless love into everything you do. Incredible things happen when your brain and your hands work together, and even greater things happen when you work together! The combined might of two artisans, or an artisan and an adventurer, is a force to be reckoned with!

Crucial Partnerships

Artisans tend to work frequently with adventurers to source rare materials and lost knowledge. Recipes of all kinds can be found locked away in ruins lost to time, and many reagents and materials are no walk in the park to acquire! While the artisans do the making, it's often up to adventurers to help source materials, fight off challenges, and do critical research that makes wonders possible.   Just like how artisans will team up with adventurers, they'll often team up together as well! Many projects require more than just one mind to bring to life; there are only so many professions one can feasibly take up and master all at once — though you can certainly be a master of several trades! — so adding more skilled sets of hands to big projects is often more than just helpful, it's necessary! The many combinations of professions can at any time be needed to push a project forward, so it's often up to artisans to build their networks well, or do business with those who can connect them to the folks they need to support their dreams.

Faith and Spirit

To be an artisan is to embody one half of the world's creation myth. Walking the path of the artisan is an act that honors the god of art who crafted the very world in collaboration with the god of life; the latter of the two gods is the one which inspires, as one might expect, the world's adventurers.   Every act of creation is a revelry and a blessing! Even those who do not take up the mantles of faith feel the benefits of the god of art smiling on their crafts and rewarding them with precious experience that they may take into their next great artisanal endeavor.

Station, Stationary!
Artisans are typically known as the folks who stay put to work on their passions, while adventurers are the ones who do the most traveling, but travel isn't just limited to the adventurers!   Artisans love to travel the world just as much, but there is some truth in the sense that workshops tend to be quite stationary.
Multiclassing
Artisans and adventurers alike need not swear off one path by choosing the other — many artisans venture off on their own quests! Likewise, many adventurers take up the trades to bolster their field skills.   The distinction between the two lies in which side has the greatest hold on the heart and guides the path forward.

Types of Artisans

There are nearly too many flavors of artisan to list, but they can be pretty handily broken up into several main groups, with some exceptions fluttering in and out of each category as needed. They get tougher to track as different skills and trades blend together, so let's not think too hard about putting them in boxes and sealing them shut!

    Artisans Around the World

The same disciplines can look quite different, depending on where exactly you look. Just as fashions shift with each pin on the map, architectural styles vary between cities, different foods find each dinner table, and different arts take the stage in each great gallery.

    Fieldcraft & Floralworks

The artisans of Brightfield are known for their love and adoration for the simplest things in life, often prioritizing the practical skills above most others. The exception tends to come in the form of food and hospitality; the culinarians of the land are best known for their exceptional Anseni pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread, among a wild assortment of additional delectable bites. These are made possible, however, by the humble Brightfield farmer, a collective of industrious folks who work hard to ensure that there is never a time of year where their neighbors are forced to go without their beloved dessert pumpkins.   Artists of Brightfield often come in the form of florists, woodworkers, and paper-makers, making great use of the lands around them which always explode into bloom through the spring and summer months. These florals are so impactful to the local culture that they spawned an entire annual revel, the Festival of Blooms, to celebrate and share their crafts with one another and — now that Iverra has grown far more popular — the world beyond.
