Adventuring Party

Veena, you were amazing! With the techy-grabber thing and your sciency smarts, and with Marlow's spell! I can't believe Cath was able to throw you so far, too... We really did it!

Why do I need a party?

Fantastic question, friend! The world is brimming with corners to be explored and tackled head-first, no matter what flavor of adventure you yearn for. The issue, however, is that many of them are far too much for one lone adventurer to take on! There are a few common factors that arise when adventurers set out on their quests and longer journeys, so let's get into each one:

More Skills Needed!

This tends to be the most common cause for seeking aid from fellow adventurers: the task at hand just requires too many skills that you don't have!   Even the greatest adventurers can only master so many skills at any given time — a well-rounded party is often the key to making sure all bases are covered while out in the field!

More Power Needed!

The deeper your investigations go, and the farther you travel in your adventures, the more you may find bounties and other tasks simply get more difficult.   With extra hands, greater firepower, and squad tactics, you can make quick work of challenges that put you on your creaturefolk butt if you try to tackle them on your own.

More Heart Needed!

Long journeys sure can get lonely. All mechanical benefits aside, it can do absolute wonders for the heart and soul to have companions to share snacks, stories, and campfire songs with at every step of the way.   Even the legends continue to travel in parties, even while tackling mundane business, because it just makes each task warmer.

There's nothing in this world you can't achieve with the right team at your side!

What Makes a Party?

The fun thing about adventuring parties is that they're marvelously variable. It all depends on the challenge you're attempting to take on! Certain compositions are better suited to certain tasks, but there are plenty of archetypes to pick and choose from, that you can slot together to form the perfect party for your needs.

The Leader

Specialty: Logistics (Herding Cats)
While you can run without a leader, things get a little chaotic when no one is prepared to take charge when things get dicey.

The Knower

Specialty: Research
Some missions require more preparation than others, and not knowing what you're diving into can make things go south very quickly.

The Blade

Specialty: Combat
Sometimes, the only way forward is through! Strong combatants can sometimes be crucial, especially in dangerous locales.

The Shadow

Specialty: Stealth
Subtlety can make all the difference. Quiet steps and soft hands can keep a party out of trouble entirely, if done right.

The Anchor

Specialty: Defense
Someone who can never be displaced or swayed from their course, and a shield against anything that might come your way.

The Technician

Specialty: Technology
Tech and gadgets of all kinds can turn a mission from a slog to a critical success with the click of a button or the clang of a wrench.

The Enchanter

Specialty: Spellcasting
Enchantments keep blades unnaturally sharp, and the wits sharper still. Harder to find (introverts...), but worth the effort!

The Collector

Specialty: Hoarding
There's a common truth about any adventure: There's a lot of loot. It's always a good idea to bring someone with large pockets!
There are WAY more options than I could ever dream of putting my finger on. If there's a need, someone out there can take up the mantle, even if some more niche roles might be harder to find than others.

I love this article, I'm so happy you took this prompt this direction its wonderful and fun and adorable. The little (herding cats) absolutely sent me into orbit this morning, I'm cackling like a maniac cause its so true! Great timing on that one in the article, so apt. The opening quote is great, just someone being so happy, hyped on their friends, just the purest wonderment. Definitely tucking this one into my collection :)

The collector is definitely the most important role.
