Illuriana
The town of Illuriana is settled at one of the major crossings of the Isenar River. Ruled by the rather esteemed Count Haldir, it has grown to be quite prosperous in the past ten years in comparison to when it was first settled when it was merely a few houses and an inn located at the Illurianian Bridge. In the past ten years under Count Haldir's rule, it has nearly doubled in size and population and dwarfs the other minor towns across Minervus hold.
Demographics
8 Guardsmen,
2 Innkeepers/Tavernowners (Both of the taverns in town serve as inns),
1 Cobbler,
2 Furriers,
1 Stonemason,
1 Carpenter,
1 Blacksmith,
1 Jeweler,
1 Alchemist,
12 Livestock Farmers,
50 Crop Farmers (Most farmers in villages like Illuriana practice subsistence farming; however a few farmers are responsible for trade with the city their town compliments; i.e. Illurianian farmers trade their crops to Illuria, Velluriaminian farmers trade with the capital city, Velluria),
and 1 Gardener. Most other citizens in Illuriana who do not follow one of these professions work in the free market, haggling and selling whatever legal wares they wish.
As far as race goes, most of the citizens of small towns like Illuriana are human, however many are home to all manner of exotic races, there just are not many citizens to begin with, and very few people migrate permanently to small villages like these. For example, the Leering Virgin tavern's owner is LoKag "Rootsmasher" Anakalathai, the father of an entire household of goliaths, and they are welcomed openly as family by the other Illurianians.
Government
The Count and his men tax any citizens of Illuriana who follow a profession other than farming, and who own a house in the village. Citizens who own townhouses, which are little more than high-quality tents, are not taxed in any way.
Defences
A great wall made of sharpened oak logs lines the border of the town, built by the master craftsman who lives in town, Dalek Nuxatk, and his hobgoblin apprentices, Bill and Kyle.
Industry & Trade
Citizens of Illuriana, much like the rest of The White Mountains, are allowed to do whatever they want to with their lives as far as their profession goes. Many choose to be crop farmers, as since Illuria relies on its satellite villages for crops, it is the only profession that is not taxed in any way shape or form. Instead, if a citizen wants to start a farm, the Count happily allocates a plot of land for them to farm and trade their crops.
Guilds and Factions
Most satellite villages like Illuriana have a member or two of the White Mountain Thieves Guild living there, albeit undercover, as a safeguard against rogue criminals disrupting the peace.
Additionally, there is an Abbey of the Everyman in every village, so that anybody who practises the worship of any of the Ætherial deities can worship in peace, no matter who they follow. The Abbey of Illuriana is led by Vilan Asu'L'adim, a priest of the god of truth and love.
Tourism
Most tourists merely stop in Illuriana while crossing the Isenar River, the crossing for which is the reason Illuriana was first settled. The Leering Virgin tavern is a welcome sight for any exhausted travelers seeking succor, however LoKag the innkeeper tends to be mistrustful of adventurers, as are the rest of the townsfolk.
