Prince Han Ashawa (a.k.a. The Usurper King)
Physical Description
A tall-ish (for a Bashurian) muscular man.
Thin dark brown eyebrows.
-He lost Three of his teeth when he was 18 and he had these missing teeth replaced with gold teeth.
Mental characteristics
Extensive education in combat, martial arts (since the age of 8), Economics, history, the art of war, literacy, etc.
He served as an officer during brother's reign.
During his niece's reign he was demoted to low rank and was posted in defferent places far from Bashur where he would cause less trouble.
Intelligence advisor for Arquado in the start of the war. He drew him a detailed map of Bashur and described how the Bashurian troops work as well as telling him all about Eldanfan the Outcast.
-In 174 A.B he was the king of Bashur, but he served as a vassal king to the
Berini Empire.
He successfully convinced the Berini to put him on the Bashurian throne.
He nearly won the competition between him and his niece.
He rebuilt part of Bashur after it was besieged.
He managed to prevent his people from overthrowing him until his niece came and killed him herself.
Lost the competition between him and his niece.
His plan of the Berini seating him on the Bashurian throne and shortly losing the war didn't work out very well. He wound up being a vassal for his entire reign rather than for just a small portion of it (Arquado was much smarter than he thought).
His niece executed him without a trial and then felt free to mutilating his body and displaying it the streets for a week.
His niece uncovered his head in front of everybody. Twice.
During one of the last phases of the competition between him and his niece, during a sharp sparring bout, Yu-Mai Ashawa cut his helmet strap and the arming cap string with her sword. The helmet and arming cap both eventually fell off during the bout which caused his head to be uncovered which caused his morale to sink for the rest of the competition. That ultimately caused him to lose the competition.
Smart, talented and intelligent. He wasn't clever and cunning the way his niece was, but
he was far from dumb.
The throne is male only and it doesn't go according to eldest male preferance1.
He deserves to be his eldest brother's successor because he was more directly related to him than any of his nephews and is young enough to be the next generation. Because the throne is rightfully his, he is qualified to use any means necessary to get it from his niece.
Walking around with his head uncovered.
Putting a woman on the Bashurian throne.
Personality Characteristics
He wants the throne and he wants revenge on his niece.
Very ambitious and patient. He knows when to stay down and when to strike.
History
They had a good relationship until the death of Yu-Wa Ashawa. Both of them then quickly tried to sieze the title of being heir.
Relationship Reasoning
Each one believes that they are the rightful heir. They both believe in almost the same values, and it's also the explanation as to why they changed from being like close siblings (Yu-Mai Ashawa, Yu-Wa Ashawa and Do-Han Ashawa were this inseperable trio) to the most bitter of rivals. Neither one would have allowed the other to get or keep the throne because of a few key points that they believed important. Their extreme sense of righteousness, revenge, nationalism and duty stoked up the fire between them to the point where it caused millions to die as an indirect result of it. If Do-Han would have become the heir and ascended to the throne instead, Yu-Mai would probably have tried to seize the throne from him. Something that would have had a smaller chance of succeeding because she was a woman in a patriarchal world.
Commonalities & Shared Interests
They both want to rule the kingdom.
They started to loath each other after Yu-wa's death.
They both have a rabid sense of duty and nationalism.
They are both righteousness and revenge driven when it comes to war. They both eventually manage to dial this down significantly towards others but not towards each other (it got worse there as time went on).
They are both competent and intelligent.

Towards Mariani Cornelius
Relationship Reasoning
Mariani doesn't really trust Do-Han Ashawa and has some prejudices against him and Do-Han Ashawa is a rabid nationalist who keeps working on undermining the berini influence in Bashur so he can be an independent king.
Commonalities & Shared Interests
They both are nationalistic and patriotic and while Mariani is a supporter of Berini interests, Do-han Ashawa is a supporter of his own and of Bashurian interests.
