0005: Mister Hunter

by Tiffany Suvans

Having found the castle and deciding to keep it, we went on deciding on how to work on it and repair it. Needs a huge sum of money for sure. As we discussed on it, I saw a well-dressed courier approaching us. Huh, I think we'll need winter clothes as well. Where to get though... I saw him hold out a letter.

'... a letter to a member of the Benedict family?'- Courier
'Yep. That's me.' - Luis

I saw Luis reach out for it. It turns out it was from his dad, asking him to return to be his heir to the winery company. A noble who gambled his money away. Luis refused. He mentioned it once before but it would seems there's bad blood between them.

'Excuse me sir, where'd you get some winter clothes?'
'Cause it would be a real shame for that body to be cold *whistles' - Luis
'A real shame indeed. A shame to kill kids young as you are.' - Courier. His tone with wariness.

I nudge Luis out of the way. To my question, the courier answered,
'I got this clothes with the job. It's far from this place.'
'How about the nearest land or shop you know of to get some winter clothes?'

The courier informed us to look for the hunter down the south who sells furs and pelts. Following the advice, we checked in to find some winter clothes.

'Knock, knock. Hello?'
'Place is closed. Orders full and there's a shipment to be done in a week.'
'If you would like, we could assist you in work. We would just like to get some winter clothes. For one adult and at least 3 kids?'

I thought we were turned away when there was no response but the door swung open and heavens, this Aasimar hunter is something to behold. I noticed Luis staring at the abs.

'I didn't know you swing that way, Luis'
'he gay' - Chrome
'Come on in. Before you freeze to death.' - Aasimar

The hot air blowing from the inside is certainly more welcome than the frigid ice. The place is quite small and we were cramped but still managed to fit. He spread what seems to be his unwashed blanket on the floor for us to sit on and quickly handed out hot rock soup in cups before returning to his work. As if he doesn't like to waste a moment away from work. Chrome took an interest on his tools and Luis and Rhys looking around.

'Excuse us but we would like to buy fur for the winter. How much would that be? '
After a long silence, he simply answered, '10 gold'
It was a take it or leave it offer. Surprisingly, Chrome stood up.
'What if.. I assist in your work, give discount?' - Chrome

I was about to intervene but oddly, the Aasimarian hunter hands out the hammer he was using.
'Work with this' - Aasimar

I held my breath. I know Chrome is quite the moon elf and I'm sure he had the experience of working with tools and all but i don't think he could carry that huge, metallic, screaming heavy as ass of a hammer. Sure enough, Chrome didn't back down. But he was just straining enough to somehow hold it but couldn't lift it high. And the hunter didn't even let go of it yet.

'I apologize. It seems.. it's not possible' - Chrome
'He means well, he's still learning after all. What about wool? How much is it?'
'5 copper per pound of wool' - Aasimar

Running some calculations on my head and taking account of the 50 crew members back in the ship, I decided to take 3 gold worth of wool. Roughly 30 pounds. Ugh, my back. Maybe we could snow roll it back it to the ship. Mom would love to knit this with me for some warm apparels. Chrome also had interest for getting leather and some tools so I was surprised when the Aasimarian pulled out this old moldy leather from somewhere and it had shiny leather tools considered of master tools quality . He does know where he keeps his stuff even if it's a bit cluttered.

'Can I have this? .. How much, for tools?' - Chrome
The Aasimarian hunter seemed lost in thought for a moment.
'You can have it... I made a promise... A promise that who ever asks for it, will be given to that person.' - Aasimar

Then he shared his story of how he was handed the tools, of the owner saving a lot of lives with the works he made with these tools and that it had also saved his life.

'Isn't all of this, too much? ' - Chrome
'If it can be used to save someone's lives, then it has filled its purpose' - Aasimar
