0007: Winding Down

by Tiffany Suvans

The captain had been trusting of us after the Whitetail incident and it felt good to be heard. The villagers had been kind to offer food and contributions equal to the amount of 17, 000 rations. That should last the ship for awhile. Rose, having settled as the ship's cook, suggested to look for or trade with others for some plants and spices. It would seem he craves it so as someone who is used to having a seasonal and tasty food. Captain agreed as we'll be soon trading with a ship along the route our route soon. It's 11 days away but it's manageable.

While 11 days on the way to , I train and work on myself. As I've been thinking of the bloody magical sigil painted at the ceiling back in Whitetail, I spent a day trying to discern it but all I could make out is the symbol of wrath in ancient draconic and of a dragon. I couldn't find out what could have activated it. It's evil for sure.

The next five days was spent on training passively and practicing my swordsmanship as I'm planning to buy some armor and weapon. Leather armor? Nah, a bit tacky. Plate armor? Too heavy. Erh, chainmail? I could but I think the chain shirt will do. For the five days, I tended over my plants, been reading the books I got from Whitetail and practicing violin to chill on my own.

The twelveth day arrived, the dawn breaking from the horizon along with the ship we'd be trading with in sight. With the ships coming close enough, anchors were dropped. Ropes were thrown over and a wooden plank was set in between the ships. I saw the sigil of star mistress and the sea father on board. Rose, Chrome and I went over to take a look at their items. Chrome quickly bought the items of his interest - a clock and a broken pepperbox, and went back to his room. I followed Rose to this goblin trader. He certainly sounded suspicious to me especially as he is selling items of a box, a rock, a stick, the broken pepperbox that Chrome got and some paper with scribbled notes. Rose got the sealed box and the rock. I bought some paper filled with scribbled notes from a goblin. The scribbles looked like primordial language but I don't know primordial language so I have to decipher this first to even understand it.

Moving over to the tortle trader, I finally got myself a chain shirt and rapier. Rose got the quarter stuff. I feel like the midgets should have some leather armor as well so with the remaining gold coin on my money pouch, I got four leather armor for them. I fitted it on Rose and it was a bit large but can still be fixed. They're also growing still. I remembered when Chrome, Luis and Rhys were pretty much defenseless against those dark shadows back then. Must be prepared for any next time encounter.
