The end of the world

by Ellyrian Starchaser

We had seen so many ends of the world already. The sundering, the second sundering, the spell plague, the fall of Myth Drannor... Gods died and raised with new names, new powers, new domains, new followers. My clan continued through it all. And yes, not always in the same way, how could we? but we continued, we marched on. We helped the communities around us, and we built a better day for us and those around us. So when the rumors started flying, about the gods dying, the world dying... well, we didn't believe them. Not all of us at least, I do remember some members of my clan walking away but that was not what most of us decided. And then we started feeling it and everything changed.
I was then training to be a druid of Angharradh, and I was just an initiate. The archdruid Elendrial Moonglade was my tutor and we were in the middle of a meditation session when we lost our connection with the Goddess. Caoimhe barked and yelped like she was distressed and we felt the connection with the fae realm break. At that point we knew, we knew it was real and that the rumors where not just rumors.
When the warden appeared to guide us to what he described as our only hope of survival, not all of my clan followed. Some of them stayed behind to help the chaotic communities of the Dales organize. I said goodbye to my mother and father, hoping I would see them again in this promised new world but truth be told, I am not certain this will happen. I can't feel my Goddess. My tutor has stayed behind to prepare the circle to march. I walk with a small amount of members of my clan to prepare our way into this new place.
I am not alone, but I feel alone. More alone that I have never been in my life.
We have arrived to this portal, guided by the Warden and he is urging us to go through. He has agreed to wait until the morning, to see if any other of our kind arrives before we cross, however he won't let us cross all in one, he says we have to go one by one to not overwhelm the portal and cause the magic to faulter. He has not and will not explain who opened this portal, if there is any others, and why would they help us, or where does it lead.
So many questions.
I hope they will all be answered in due time. The world is dying... I can feel it in my body, in my bones.
I hope we don't die with it.
