Questionable Faith
After learning about the dark city and the extreme amount of information Khalsinn gave us after they returned, it just solidified more that our next step would eventually need to be the search for the dragon that had left the kobolds. That meant a return to the lake that we had seen through the window and finding out what the northern tunnels held. Since the vampiric mist had been so close to the lake, I chose to go, not wishing that upon anyone else.
As the stories were told about the dark city and what we have seen so far, I have realized that there are very few of us that are equipped to understand the religious things that we have found. Miz does to an extent as she’s from the Underdark, but there are things here that are different than the simple worship of the Huntress that most Drow have. What Khalsinn described bordered on fanatical, but the third sect is what bothers me. Journeying to the lake and eventually into the temple below told me that our hunches were correct and something was more wrong than we realized.
The third sect in the city worshipped a demon, but things didn’t add up with that realization. The golden book shouldn’t be in this temple if it was one of demon worship. The more we learn, the more things seem to contradict and confuse. I may have to resign myself to the idea of going to Monitrex, but Miz believes we should send Syndra in my place, an academic opposed to a paladin.
The more we learn, the more confusing everything seems to become. The story the witch told about the paladin seems to tie in as well, but I’m unsure of how. Nothing seems to come together the way the lack of information did. Maybe we went about this in the wrong order. Maybe we should have gone to Monitrex first, but the Drow city seems to pose a threat to Miz and her safety, so it was easier to ignore it. But maybe now, traveling there is our only option.
