Personal history
Early Life
Yulia is the third child of seven in a respectable Svirfneblin artisan family from Glimmermere. Her father, Galthad Pipaker, is a healer for the mine workers and works for the mine owners. Her mother,Umia Angrboða, is a metal worker and jewler.
Although one of many children, Yulia's parents surrounded her with love. She was raised and in turn raised many of her siblings. While her siblings showed interest in crafting, Yulia was not interested. Her parents worried that she was not as skilled as her siblings but she soon showed an aptitude for words and language. She often created her own songs to help remember things and to pass the time as she helped around the house. She was also much more curious than her siblings; she often explored beyond her village's limits which is very uncommon for young Svirfneblin.

Wruxal Death and Aftermath
TL;DR
Wruxhal got conscripted along with a bunch of others to raid a mine. Inside, a Mind Flayer tadpole tried to attach to Wruxhal but the attachment failed and the tadpole died before fully consuming his brain. Yulia rescued him, got him out of the cave but the town shut her out and he died.
While on their travels to a prosperous town, the lord-mayor conscripted Wruxal to serve in the town levy. Yulia believed that it was a temporary matter and they would put it behind them when they slipped out of town. However, the next day Wruxal got word that they levy may soon be raised to clear a cave with ancient knowledge contained within. Wruxal begged Yulia to stay so that he could recover this artifact, she eventually agreed.
Five days later, the town guard called Wruxal to muster with the other members of the town levy. They received basic arms, armor and instructions to infiltrate the cave then exterminate all non-Humanoids. He told Yulia that they would leave at dawn the next morning. He told Yulia that the captain of the guard said it would only take one day, that they should meet with light resistance from Goblins and that he might explore afterword. If he did not hear from her in three days, she should not tell the guard but should come for him herself. Yulia wanted to go with him but Wruxal implored her to stay and to keep their valuable belongings safe as he didn't trust the residents of the town.
The next day, the levy set out to the cave system followed by an impromptu procession of their families who were permitted to tag along. Yulia grabbed her things and joined the procession along side them. The whole group walked for half a day until they came to a series of overhangs and crags not far from the main road. The levy went into the largest cave as a dozen town guards stayed behind to prevent any curious onlookers from entering but also from any of the levy deserting.
Yulia waited with the families outside the cave. The families waited there for a little while, maybe a few hours. A few groups returned to town to get on with their day but the majority waited patiently for news from the cave. As it got later, the onlookers began to set up a makeshift camp.
Near sunset, Yulia noticed that one of the town guards heard something and went into the cave. When he came out, the town guards hurriedly began forcing people out of the camp and back to town. When Yulia demanded to know what was going on, they said it was no longer safe her. When she demanded to know about the levy, the guards said everything was going to plan and they would be back in town tomorrow. The questions arroused the attention of the guards who forced her to leave the area; Yulia reluctantly complied.
So Yulia returned to the town under protest. She spent an anxious night waiting for news and when the sun came up she went to the town guard for information. They claimed to have no news but everything was still going according to plan. She didn't believe it but waited for the rest of the day hoping that Wruxal would return. He didn't and she spent another restless night in town.
The next morning before dawn, she slipped out of town and made for the caves. When she arrived at the spot, she noticed the guards were close to the turnoff from the road, they looked afraid and more concerned with looking towards the cave than looking for outsiders. She evaded the guards and easily made her way to the cave enterence then slipped inside.
She traveled for a while without any sign of the levy or any sign of life at all. She came upon what looked like a portion of the cave where the floor crumbled into a void below. The levy left behind a rope ladder which she used to climb into the void. She continued on in what looked like an abandoned ancient city with bizare archetecture. After some time she came upon one dead Half Elf from the levy but no signs of other life. So she continued in further onward.
Eventually she came to a passageway that led to another drop deeper into the cave system. She came upon some creatures in the dark that she had never seen before guarding a passage to a larger room with some other passageways before it. She eluded the creatures with her knowledge of how to move about the underdark but was forced to take an alternate route through an antechamber.
In the antechamber she found dozens of former levy members, all dead or near death. She found Wruxal unconcious but seemingly alive among them. She attempted to stabelize him but nothing that she did worked. She put together a makeshift stretcher and drug Wruxal slowly back toward the abandoned subterranean town.
As she dragged Wruxal, she got one glimpse of the creatures in the dim light. She saw her first glimpse of the creatures that did this, the Mind Flayers. They saw her as well but did nothing.
Yulia managed to drag Wruxal through most of the city. He came to conciousness a few times along the way. It took a moment but he recognized her and told her that he was so sorry. He begged her to leave him here but she refused. Yulia was convinced that he would be able to fight what ever was wrong with him if she could only bring him back to the town.
She didn´t know how how long it took, it seemed like an eternity, but she was able to drag him to the rope ladder that led up to the upper level of the cave. Fortunately, Wruxal regained conciousness for a bit and climbed with Yulia´s help. After that, he lost concousness for the last time.
It was dark when Yulia Angrboða reached the mouth of the cave. It took her all night and into the next morning to drag Wruxal to the nearest city gate.
At the gate, the town guard refused to let her or Wruxal inside. She implored them to send out a healer but none came. The guards told her that if she did not leave now they would kill her where she stood. Wruxal´s condition worsened and she could tell he was near death. So she drug Wruxal to a clearing by a stream.
Over the next day, almost delerious with exhaustion, Yulia Angrboða tried to revive Wruxal by any means that she knew. In the evening, Wruxal died in her arms.
Yulia hid the body in a washout by the stream and quickly made for the town. She implored them again to send a healer who knew restoration magic to revive her husband but she was greeted with crossbow fire. She fled again and returned to the stream.
Exhausted, she collapsed and slept for almost a full day before regaining the strength to bury him. She dug a deep grave on high ground overlooking the stream, underneath a chestnut tree. She carved his name into the tree as a sort of headstone and vowed to visit him as much as she could. However, now without food, alone and unwelcome in the area she knew that she had to leave.
Before she withdrew from the area of the town´s control, she made one last visit to the town walls. Yulia said that the whole world would know what they had done. She left bitter, embattled, destitute and broken.

Incomes
Yulia earns a small income from musical gigs. She was the resident bard at a minor lord's court for several years which earned her a bit of savings, something which she never had before. She sings in taverns, inns, public squares or anywhere people gather as she travels. She usuallly earns travling expenses and enough to travel onward to the next city.
Her main income is from the sale of artifacts and loot she gains on her adventures or bounties she collects in the service of good folk. She typically earns enough to put away into her savings or invest in magical items as hard currency.
Assets
Yulia has a little bit of a stash of tradable goods that she is saving up for a purpouse. She is hoping to fund research into Mind Flayers and a potential antedote or preventative to the attachment of their tadpoles to their potential hosts. After that she hopes to create a codex on how to heal various ailments and afflictions from across the known world.
Debts
Yulia doesn't have a lot of debts to her name. She tries to keep away from owing anyone anything as it binds her to a person and to an area.
Socioeconomic Status
Yulia is a journeywoman, craftsperson and free person. She is not wealthy nor does she claim titles or positions of status. What she is, is free to explore and loyal only to herself. Socioeconomically she would have the wealth of someone in the lower-middle class and would be a member of the working class.
Family Ties
Religious Views
Yulia is not a religious person. She acknowledges the existence of the gods, devils, Fae and all of that but she chooses not to worship any of them as they are disconnected from the struggles of her and her kin. She sees worshiping higher powers as a waste of her time, which is ironic because she channels the magical essence of the Shaddowfell through her signature harp which gives her some enhansed magical abilities.
Social Aptitude
Yulia has traveled for a long time, about a hundred years, and came in contact with a lot of people. She knnows how to read them well, to discern what they want and to say what they need to hear. She is very good at putting on a face, usually bubbly and innocent, when she is around people. When she doesn't want to put on a face, she can be distant, sometimes cold and morbid. As this is not her brand of performance, she hides this away from the world.
She is fairly charismatic and persuasive from all of her time as a bard. She usually tries to convince people to do something as it is in their own best interest or makes them feel a connection to her, usually though her songs.
Also from her extensive travels, time in a few courts and with many different cultures, she is fairly versed in ediquite and manners. In high society she knows what songs are appropreate, which is the salad fork, how to enter a room properly and how to act at almost all times. That said she is more at home with the common folk in pubs, taverns and inns from the harbors, mercantile districts and working class areas of the world. These are her kind of people and she fits right in with them.
