Personal history

Born in a Southlands costal village of his clan that was a shipwright town for small to medium sized ships for the clan. This village acted as a second dock that the clan launched small raids from, or sent trade out of. He grew up acting as a laborer, beside his older brother Taavi, for the docks while being trained to join the builders later in life. When he was 4, Gulbrand lost his mother not long after gaining his younger sister Lata. After that he was taught to use the sword and shield As well as large two handed weapons by his father, a raid leader. His bother showed talent for magic and was taken as an apprentice by the town’s druid.
 
Around these jobs he also spent a lot of time around his best friend Fawn, a future shield maiden and tailor for the village. When they were old enough they both joined their first Viking and raided many of the smaller northern settlements for wealth and skill. Upon return the raiders celebrated with some of the clan's best mead in the central hall with their yarls. And this was the first time Gulbrand and Fawn celebrated together until morning.
 
Over the next few years they joined more raids, earned friends, and lost others. Over this time, as his sister grew, they also started meeting other clans, including their rivals at clan gatherings. The son of one of the elders of their rival clan, the Vagaring Clan, saw Gulbrand's sister and developed an unhealthy obsession with her. Constantly bothering Gulbrand's sister during the yearly gatherings. To the point where he and Gulbrand came to blows. Often.
 
When he was 23, he learned who he was going to be marrying through his family arrangements and he met his fiancée, a daughter of one of the clan’s yarl’s and clan healer, Audrina. Their meeting went well, and they seemed to got along well. Even as young kind and gentle as she was, she had a glare that could shut up even the clan’s toughest warriors. The marriage ceremony was schedule for the next raiding party return before winter. It was never going to happen.
 
Upon return of a mostly successful raid. They found their village in ruins, the fires mostly burnt down. A mixed group of trolls, orcs and goblins were squatting in the mostly burnt ruins. They lost more of the raiding party, but in the end, slaughtered all the squatters. After investigating, the number of bodies did not match the population. And looking for the other two settlements of the clan, they were also burnt down. Many of the bodies had signs of well-crafted weapons, and not the low quality that the trolls, goblins, and orcs were using. The survivors split after that. Someone had helped or used the monsters as mercenaries to kill the clan. The dishonor would not be allowed.
 
The elder leader and some of the more well-known went to other clans to ask for help and find information on what had happened. While the surviving raiders took the ship to the northern lands to join an adventurers guild. Earn wealth, honor, experience, valuables, and allies to help rebuild the clan, negotiate with other clans, and get revenge against the dishonorable dogs who slaughtered their families.
