Day 12. The Ambush.

by Wouldn't you like to know... Schoeflinger Readywrite

On the 12 day of the month of Volkten in the first year of the reign of the seventh Emperor Alexander
My group and I do hang in trap
Behind a wall were we directed to hide by our commander
The distasteful glint of the Emperor's Knights' armor is, I'll admit, a sight to behold.
They have two wagons, likely filled with prisoners;
Prisoners that should not be in the law's lap
Knight Protectors protect nothing, they're like a bunch of kibitzers
It is good they are here, for I was beginning to get cold

It is time to go, so I'll leave you here for now.
Shab
Now I've been abandoned, and I have a KP looking over my shoulder. And... Well, I guess you should know what happened.
Before I do, though, let me indulge one more time...
SHAB!!!!!

Still on that same day
Just as we were about to spring
The Klan decided they'd have their way
And sprung their own trap instead
A confusing battle soon did ensue
And now we go, into the ring
I made some decision I will always rue
they make my heart as heavy as lead

So the battle began, as most of us were surprised
By the Klan's cruel ambush
Anywhere would I recognize them disguised
I know not who knew they were there,
But the battle that followed was brutal at least
Confused, was I, when I did hear the lush,
The melodious sound of a musical beast
I at once recognized an Inspiring song floating through the air.

From my countryman's description, I did know
That it was a pale man in league with the Evil Knights
Confused by the battle, I was so
I thought hindrance would be a good help
For my group to fight the armored devils
I did not realize the Klan was the larger threat in midday's light
So I played a minor key to derail the Pale's evil
Then my group reacted like it was no help

But, hey. I was confused!

So then Specs decided to sic his hog on the Klan
It unfortunately made him a target
The knight can fight like a man
Solovar decided that now would be a good time to miss
Regis put some people to sleep, the Knight included
Now the Pale has decided to use facial argot
I must say, it freaked me out and my song concluded I mean, come on! That face is enough to freak anyone out!
I made a mistake, I must confess

No one's perfect

I walked out of the enclosure and attacked
My trusty Flagelli Ferrum struck out
And hit the Pale where armor lacked
Nearly dead, the Pale retreated, still playing his instrument
Seeing the damage done, The Klan decided
I was a target and attacked me with a shout
Since I was now out of the spot that we hided
For in battle, everything is precipitant

My fair band did help me understand,
I attacked the wrong group of people
So then did I help fight the Klan
As Regis sent the knight to sleep.
The battle then was soon over
And learned did I of a broken steeple
A pillar broken by our Solovar
And what he sowed he gets to reap.

Regis was injured and they decided
To take him back to be healed
But the knight was uneasy, he could not hide it
To let us all go and never be seen again
So Solovar made a deal with him
To leave me with the knight in this field
As a hostage among these despicable Men
And to this, I was forced to say "Amen"

(I guess I should change this to Day 1, since a new chapter in my life seemed to have started...)

So, apparently, Solovar does deals with the Klan now?

We set off for Veritslav's town
Unfortunately (Or fortunately?) The Knights' mission is in vain
For supplies already came down
To this city and Veritslav accepted
But through my help, this Knight
Only could this make things worse: Rain
But thankfully, it didn't, and still it's not night
This day is not what I had in mind when the convoy was intercepted

Well, my dear Sunflower, I hope this letter finds you well, as always. Today has been interesting for sure. Sorry about the break, but we had something to do, so I'll tell you now, my dear Sunflower.

Veritslav told us that,
If we defeat the Klan at the old tin mines
He'll take the shipment of the rat
That is, the Knight, and his brother companion
So the Cleric decided to stay with the wagon
And negotiated for some potions along the "cure" lines
We don't even get a flagon
Not even a single onion

We head to a tavern that is too dirty for good
And I nearly did not want to go in
But the Pale decided to stay out and brood
And he took my dear Poochie, so I went in instead
You may want to skip the next part, Sunflower, I know you aren't one for the dirtier things in life
Grease made us float an inch off the floor
And two inches above every other surface in this den
I knew at once when we opened the door
That here is a place I would not want to bed

We ate some rancid food
And read a map of the area
It turned out that the Pale's idea to brood
Was the best idea anyone had
We set off for the mines
And set off through a forest that had lots of Varia That's a kind of Moth, Sunflower
At one point I wandered away from the lines
And met a mean badger that apparently likes to eat lads

I was able to fling it away from my face
and stumble back to the group
But on our way to the Klan's base
The Knight stepped into the trap for the Badger
We got it off of him, but now
He could not run (if ever he could cope)
We followed the map, there was no row
Until the Pale fell into the quicksand's snatcher

The knight pulled him out
And on we went
We found the hideout
Just like we were sent

Loud was I, but seen was I not
And the Klan thought I was the others
So a shot from the dark, I did the rot
And hoped they said goodbye to their mothers

What follows is too much for me to rhyme, I apologize, my dear. I'll glorify it in my published work

So... yeah. We suck. I tried to stay hidden and use my crossbow, but that didn't work, and pretty soon, the Knight had cut off the tips of his fingers and was dying. Belissarius, the prisoner from the convoy, decided to save the man and feed him a cure potion. Alright, but nobody gave me one when I needed it. Darned Knights. Well, Anton, the Pale, decided enough blood was enough and ran away. (With Poochie in his backpack, no less), so we were forced to finish the battle without him. Belissarius took a hostage and now we have to head back to town. through badger-infested forest.

I'll leave off this entry here. Pick up later today on a "Day One" entry.
As always, give my love to Molly and Raysa
Love,
S.

P.S. I know you don't perceive the time jumps I have written, but, well... At this point I hope you expect them, cause I'm not stopping.
