By the time King Brewick noticed him, Gortaz had already woven himself into Pyzel Harbour’s merchant circles — and knew exactly how to turn that position into something more profitable.
The King’s trust elevated him further, opening doors in Parliament Square and giving him the perfect cover for riskier side ventures. But ambition and greed proved a dangerous mix, and the same instincts that carried him upward eventually steered him toward the black market deals that would destroy him.
