The duergar is stout and muscular in build. His exposed ebon skin is cracked and dry, and his eyes are a milky white. He white hair balding at the top, but he sports a messy long beard.

Tofira was born a slave, to slave duergar parents. At a young age, he started toiling in the underground mines of his masters. To the slave master's surprise and delight, he exhibited an affinity to the stone around him, increasing his value as a slave. One day, while he was working in the mines, he dug up what looks like an ancient stone. He touched the stone and was whisked away to a strange land with a bright yellow ball high up in a cavern of blue and white. He later learned he was chosen, and the stone he touched was a waystone.
He started living in a settlement named Catania, doing mercenary work to earn a living. During one of his jobs he found an underground complex left behind by an ancient civilization. The complex infested by a particularly vicious clan of goblins who were raiding the nearby farms. After destroying the clan, Tofira laid claim a part of the underground complex, and built a tavern called "The Rock". A waystone in the caverns gave other chosen easy access to "The Rock" and a magical hot bath in the complex gave the tavern the necessary attraction to make the place popular. Tofira also convinced a local chef named Caomei to become co-owner and work at the tavern. Soon the tavern became a hang out for both Tofira's mercenary guild as well as other chosen adventurers, and with that people started using the notice board in the tavern to post their hirings.
