Catching up with Lonna Report
General Summary
Having lived in Synoro for some months now, Davin was interested in trying to reconnect with Lonna, one of the two Trians who had been involved in the giant worm encounter while they were all travelling with a convoy through the wilds. One afternoon, he and Bliqtaz were perusing the open air market at the centre of town when they bumped into Lonna who was haggling over a basket of bread stacked higher than she was tall. After quickly catching up, Davin asked if Lonna would be willing to talk more about life as a Sym-bonded individual and she offered to meet up with both Davin and Bliqtaz later that evening at a café across town in a primarily human neighbourhood. That night, Bliqtaz and Davin found their way to the Trident Beanery. Entering the cramped coffeeshop, the two found Lonna waiting for them and a couple other patrons seated at a small table sipping their drinks and chatting. Lonna offered to pay for their beverages and asked the barista, a human woman, if they had a particular roast available today. The barista replied that she'd have to check in the back but they may have something similar. Lonna asked if she could come and view the selection herself as she was wanting to try something more exotic and the barista agreed, allowing their small party to join her. Once they had entered the back room, Bliqtaz and Davin saw several other tables and booths with patrons huddled close and talking in low voices over food and beverages. One table held a couple Aves, one a few Trians, and one in the far corner held a couple Daerpon. Lonna led them to a table with two other Trians who introduced themselves as Gaunther, a jovial if rough around the edges adventurer, and Penelope, a friendly and well dressed employee of General Engines. The party ordered some food and drinks and enjoyed getting to know a bit more about one another. Gaunther and Penelope opened up about their experiences of becoming bonded to a symbiote: Guanther having come into contact with sym-biomass on one of his early escort missions and Penelope having had a workplace accident while working as an engineer at GE. In turn, Penelope, Gaunther and Davin all showed off some of their powers to each other and Bliqtaz, not symbiotic herself, wowed the table by using her serum to grow dramatically in size and then eat a whole turkey in almost a single bite. Davin turned the conversation towards the subject of discrimination against Sym-bonded folk and the stigma associated with having a direct symbiotic connection. Although several at the table sympathized with his feelings on the subject, not all were as enthusiastic about his more radical ideas to try to change public perception of the Sym-bonded. In the middle of this conversation however, in spite of the barista's attempts to loudly dissuade them, several FTPR soldiers pushed their way into the back room to investigate a tip they had received that symbiotic agitators were congregated there. With the barista's warning, many of the backroom patrons were able to hide themselves but not all could disappear before the soldiers entered. After some tense miscommunications and a standoff between the weapons-readied soldiers and the remaining unarmed patrons, Davin, Bliqtaz, and Lonna were able to convince the soldiers that they were simply auditors going over the accounting books and other business documents for the café. The other remaining patrons were able to convince the soldiers that they were part of the kitchen and serving staff of the café (alongside the legitimate cook). Eventually, the soldiers were appeased that nothing was amiss and left the establishment. Davin reiterated his position against the status quo of prejudice against Sym-bonded people and was able to rally much more support from the backroom patrons of the Trident Beanery. He and Bliqtaz gained some reputation amongst the Sym-bonded population of Synoro.
