Lonna Dopwaller

Lonna grew up in a reasonably well off family in a bustling university town on the west coast of the FTPR. Quite an intelligent young woman, Lonna loved the pusuit of knowledge and enjoyed the prestige of academia that was on full display all over her home town.   Deciding to take a gap year between tertiary school and university, a 22 year old Lonna accompanied her grandfather, an accomplished adventurer and cartographer named Verric, on one of his excursions into the Hinterland of the western continent. This particular mission was sponsored by the FTPR military to scout out a region in North Landamæri and seemed safe enough at the outset, especially given the squad of soldiers attached to the expedition team. Unfortunately, things took a dire turn when the expedition became trapped in the heart of a forest of carnivorous trees: organisms so fully suffused with symbiotic material that they could, in moments, rapidly melt their tall fir-like form down into a puddle of aggressive gelatinous material that trapped and suffocated their prey. Only Verric, Lonna and two of the FTPR soldiers were able to escape and not before Lonna was almost fully engulfed by a tree's symbiote.   Some months later as she was beginning her first term at university, Lonna began to notice some odd visual artifacts as she focused on her studies or various sym-tech gadgets. She realized that these anomalies must be due to symbiotic contamination, one of the symbiotes from the carnivorous forest must have bonded with her. Terrified of her parents' reaction she chose to confide in her grandfather first, someone with much more experience with these kinds of supernatural oddities. Even with this surprising news, Verric warmly received his grandaughter and, knowing her parents' temperments and the general mistrust and fear in wider Trian society, agreed to keep her secret for the moment.   In an attempt to shield herself from unwanted attention, Lonna opted to drop out of university to pursue an applied education directly from her grandfather. Although somewhat disappointed, her parents' approved of the level of passion she appeared to show for the art of cartography and gave her their blessing. Since then, Lonna has accompanied Verric on his travels and adventures, both learning his trade of cartography and also attempting to independently further her education in the field of extradimensional studies in the hopes that this will allow her to better understand and control her symbiotic powers.
