Mokay (moe-KAY)
The Wayfinder, The Maker, Clever One
Chaotic Good Monkeykin Inventor God
Depicted as a clever looking monkeykin wearing a leather crafts apron and a laden tool belt, holding a tool in one hand and an invention in the other, and wearing googles (which is one of his holy symbols).Industrious and adaptable, Mokay is the god of invention. Technology and innovation, tinkering, improving, experimenting, breaking things then replacing them with something better...these are his passions. His chosen people self select for the same traits, and nearly all of those who profess to worship Mokay are craftsmen, artificers, inventors, or the like. His followers are collectively referred to as "the Hands of Mokay", and it is a common ritual among the Hands to thank Mokay for flashes of insight and curse him in equal measure when stuck on a technical problem; such cursing is considered to be a necessary part of the process and thus is not blasphemous. Indeed, Mokay would have it no other way.
The maxims 'where there's a will there's a way!' and 'never tell me the odds!' are at the core of the mindset of both the god and his followers. Their ingenuity has changed the world and will continue to do so. Whether or not such change is for the better is the job of philosophers and other stodgy sorts to ponder. And in the meantime: the Hands of Mokay make more archeotechnology!

The EGN
The island of Nul lays off the western coast, literally upon the very edge of the world. Covered nearly entirely by layer upon layer of city built on top of older city and home to various factions who collectively control governance and administration of the island while simultaneously vying with each other. It is a strange and decadent place by mainlander reckoning, and few go there unnecessarily. Nevertheless, one of the factions it is home to is the famous Engineering Guild of Nul (called the EGN by those in the know).
According to the EGN's own histories, it was founded by none other than Mokay himself at the dawn of the world, back when the gods lived among the people. Whether it is true or not, all EGN affiliated facilities of note include a shrine to Mokay and have at least one Cleric devoted to Mokay in attendence.
With the benefit of millenia of invention and innovation to draw from, funding, and political power, the Engineers of Nul are among the most advanced archeotechnologists in Zoetrope. The Guild runs several technical schools, colleges, and a university on the island of Nul itself, as well as annex facilities on the mainland (in the coastal city of Lynxton and the mountain fastness of Oraerie). Not all, but many Artificers learned or furthered their profession by studying at an EGN affiliated facility.
