Yán Mó
Yán Mó
Yán Mó is the self-proclaimed Emperor of Fire and ruler of most of the Chained Coast. He is a Planeshifters, born of both The Material Plane and The Plane of Fire. Yán holds complete control over flame, due to both his nature and extensive training, as well as his slaying of the former Emperor of Fire. He was born in Zhun to a beggar woman who caught the attention of an unusually ambitious, destructive, and cruel King of the Elemental Plane of Fire. However, during his birth, Yán Mó's mother was burned to ash, and her last moments were spent in intense fear of her own son. These emotions, mixed with the destructive nature of his father, most certainly contributed to Yán’s extreme mental instability and his intense pyromania. Defeating the former Emperor of FireRulership
As a ruler, Yán Mó does as little ruling as possible, preferring to divide his land among his generals and letting them govern largely as they wish. These generals, whom he handpicked solely for their effectiveness in warfare, are often cruel, and as a result, much—if not most—of his civilian population views Yán Mó as a tyrant, a fact he cares little about. His armies, however, see him as almost a divine figure. He rarely appears, but when he does, it is always to turn the tide of battle. Furthermore, during his conquests, Yán Mó has upheld one consistent policy: any slave has the choice to be freed if they join his armies. As the Chained Coast has always been rife with slaves, this has given him a massive and truly loyal force. During his campaigns across the Chained Coast, Yán Mó has toppled nearly all the traditional power structures. He has shown complete disregard for one’s birthright, instead valuing only ambition and ability. His army operates as a true meritocracy where anyone can rise to the top, regardless of gender, surname, or homeland. Yán Mó does not expect complete loyalty and is fully aware that many of his generals covet his power. He is not afraid of this; as long as they do not fail him in their duties, they may scheme as much as they wish. Personal Abilities
The Emperor of Fire has complete control over any flame around him and cannot be harmed by fire. He can forge flames into weapons of pure fire. He prefers close combat, using his mastery of blades, whips, and his own body to outmaneuver those who dare to face him. However, if necessary, he can unleash his full power through ranged, artillery-like attacks capable of razing entire towns. He is truly a force of nature, and if he deems an enemy worthy of his full abilities, he becomes nearly unstoppable to any mortal foe. Yán Mó’s one weakness is his mortal, physical body. If he fights at full power, the flame of his soul begins to damage his physical form. Simply put, his body cannot contain the fire within his soul, and if he releases his restraints, he quickly begins to deteriorate. This physical breakdown occurs due to the excess energy he absorbed after killing and consuming the former Emperor of Flame. In his youth, Yán Mó failed to recognize his limitations as a mere human. Concept
An emperor of king probably who rules with an iron fist over his realm, he would not rule this way because he cared much for laws or tradition, but because he leaves most governing to his generals, his firelords. He probably spends most of his time in his palace or on the battlefield. I imagine him to at his core be a wild creature, but he is bored, bored with his existence. He conquers realms because it was his parents dream for their realm to be the mightiest, but he cares little for the conquering. He gets some joy out of it when powerful foes appear, but he has yet to be defeated. This is a creature without morals, but not a sadistic one, he now does little else then master his craft. Some of his people would see him as a godlike figure, with powers beyond the mortal. But others, if not most, would see him as the figurehead for the cruel generals that serve him, they would blame him instead of them as they serve him. But he has little to do with the actual wars, rarely appearing on the battlefield. As for his powers, I imagine him to be like a war-magician. He can perform amazing feats of magic with fire, and it bends to his will effortlessly, but he would probably be incredibly skilled with weapons. And I imagine a badass scene where he like draws a chain of fire between his hands, only to then rip it in two, creating two whips of fire. Or maybe he pulls a blade of fire from the palm of his hand. He would also be completely immune to fire, and have the ability to set himself ablaze damaging all those near him. As for his powers, maybe he was created in some ritual by his parents, perhaps he is a demi-god born from a blessing given by some god of fire. Or maybe he defeated an ancient dragon of his land known as the emperor of fire, and then absorbed it's soul or energy, maybe by eating it's heart.
