Planeshifters
Planeshifter is term used to describe creaturers born inbetween planes so to say. The term is not widely known among normal people, but well-taught historians usually know the term, and they know the bloody tales tied to the term. Planeshifters are creaturers born with incredible, often dangerous, powers, and they nearly always rise to greatness. Some of histories greatest conquerors were have been Planeshifters, for example Duug'atai, the legendary Khan who led the Centaurs of Jirgun'Mordoch during the Riding of Doom. Duug'atai was especially rare, said to be native of three different planes, somehow being the spawn of The Material Plane, The Abyss, as well as The Nine Hells. This unholy trifecta of birth created a figure so evil and brutal that even six centuries after his death stories are still told around all the continent of his attempt to rule the world.
As of the 14th century AR there is only one known Planeshifter, and his true nature is still hidden from except his family. This would be
Yán Mó, The Fire Emperor. The brutal self proclaimed Emperor of Fire, who has now began to plan his ascension to the throne of all of Zhun, the land he was once exiled from. Yán was born in Zhun, but he is planeshifter born to both The Material Plane as well as The Plane of Fire, giving him natural control over fire and flame.
Birth
Planeshifters are creatures physically born between different planes. These births rarely occur, and only in the event that the parents to the creature are native to two different planes, furthermore the parents have to be at located in different planes during the birth. Even if these requirements are met the creation of a planeshifter is still very rare, and only occurs once or twice every century. Many are those who have saught to understand the truth behind the nature of Planeshifters and their birth, but in present day little is understood about the nature of these creatures. The leading theory is that somehow the soul of the creature becomes corrupted as it's tied to two planes instead of one. It's also clear that the relationship between the parents plays a serious part in the nature of the Planeshifters. Extreme emotions of hatred, fear, or other intense negative feelings nearly always lead to mentally unstable Planeshifters, at least from what has been recorded.
The nature of the planeshifter is dependant on which planes involved in it's birth as well as the circumstances, and there are names for the different combinations.
