The Two-Faced Goddess

The Two-Faced Goddess is not universally loved like their partner, the Dawn Watcher. Nor are they bright and positive like their two oldest children, Fire-Within-Stone and Hand-That-Makes.   Theirs is a different kind of adoration: that of respect and acceptance, like their youngest child. Like their daughter's darkness of sorrow and pain doesn't get celebrated, but appreciated, their ambivalence is recognized as necessary to keep the world going.   The Two-Faced Goddess represents the cycles of the seasons, of the watches, of prey that feeds the predator and trades their own life so predators can keep theirs. These primal trades, nowadays barely recognized as such, nevertheless kept life going since its beginning and the modern trade of goods is just another facet of this.   The Trading Watcher makes sure the darkness eventually comes to an end again, when they hand over the reigns to their beloved as the sun comes up.
