Mourning Mother
The third child of She-Who-Opens-The-Door, the Mother is a quiet, withdrawn presence. There are fragments of stories involving her past, but not much is clear.
Hers is the watch after dusk, before the Star-Treader takes over with their glittering, breathtaking magificence. The Mourning Mother clothes herself in dark clouds and offers the quiet, compassionate presence of understanding, when words are not enough to express your pain. Time slows down around her, comfortingly so, and her clouds collect your tears and its weight and leave you - empty, but lighter. At least for a while, you can find respite in dreamless sleep, before the world picks up its pace again.
Some say she used to be different - dreamy, airy, giving birth to the most beautiful child the world had ever seen. His voice was golden, dripping honey, but the world was not prepared for this much beauty, and she has mourned him ever since. His skill - collected by the Keeper - is woven into the tapestry that is Ouvezia and its people, with the Ouvezian Royal Bard College paying hommage both to the Weaver and the Mother. His life, death, father though, all those memories rest with his Great-Aunt, the Hidden Root, for the memory was too painful for the Mourning Watcher to bear.
Until today, this story is rarely mentioned or displayed in Ouvezian arts and crafts out of respect for the Mother's pain and to honor the Hidden Root's keeping of his secrets.
