Kyunshkal, Devourer of Worlds (Kye-unsh-kal)

Kyunshkal is a legendary--but very real--entity that resides deep under the surface of yull, slumbering soundly. It is an ancient being, ageless and colossal beyond measure. Kyunshkal is known as the 'devourer of worlds'--an apt title, for devouring worlds is exactly what Kyunshkal does; or at least, what it once did. It has been over three thousand years since the creature last awakened. According to legend, it will eventually rouse from its hibernation and consume Yull, an event known as the great ending.

History

Long ago, Kyunshakal somehow traveled to Yull, likely to feed. Though Kyunshkall does not leave worlds utterly decimated like the Endbringers, it can be correctly assumed that the people on Yull at the time did not appreciate their world being consumed. They came up with a trap, using The Deep as a lock, to constrain Kyunshkal in the middle of the planet, then lured it in with enormous amounts of food. Kyunshkal could likely have escaped before the trap was sealed, but had sensed the space-warp ripples of two endbringers already moving towards Yull and decided that inside the planet was probably the best place to be at the moment.

Description

Kyunshkal is enormous, covered in light gray reptilian scales and with four legs, twenty-two tentacles sprouting from its side and tail, and a huge toothless mouth large enough to swallow small islands whole. four fins, evenly spaced run along its back.

In Literature

Often referred to in stories, particularly older ones.

In Art

Often depicted, including in the carvings on goblin consulate buildings in Zhaldirix, though these are usually far from accurate when compared with ancient drawings of the creature.
