Phosphorian Cave Fish

Phosphorian cave fish are a species of small fish found in the Phosphorian Caves under Tropacia on Greenerth. They are commonly kept in aquariums, as their docile nature makes them easy to care for.

Anatomy

Phosphorian cave fish have a range of colours, most commonly pinks or blues. Reds, oranges, purples, blacks and whites have also been discovered. They have slender bodies, with very short pectoral, dorsal and anal fins. Their heads are small with white spots around their eyes - white cave fish have black spots. There have been a handful of morphs bred in this species, however they are very rare and may not always be inherited.

Diet

Wild phosphorian cave fish use echolocation to find their prey, as their eyesight is not the best. Wild fish eat small insects and any other creature that can fit in its mouth. These fish will spend a few seconds using their echolocation to determine whether something is alive, if they can detect movement.

Special fish food can be bought for these fish, that contain all of the nutrients needed for a healthy diet. Phosphorian fish require different nutrients to most fish, so their fish is slightly more expensive as it is manufactured separately.

Domestication

Phosphorian fish are very easy to take care for, so it is no surprise they are commonly kept as pets. The most difficult thing with these fish is that they require darkness in their tanks, otherwise the bright lights stress them out as they can sense an unfamiliar environment, even if they did not originate in the wild.

Special tanks have been created that prevent light from getting in, yet the inside of the tank is completely visible. This allows owners to see the pets, make sure the tank is in a good condition, all while the fish feels safe and at home.
