Bladeite

Bladeites are large trees found in tropical and desert climates in the Region of Sarra and the Tropics. There are multiple distinct species, the most famous two being the tropics bladeite and the desert bladeite.

Basic Information

Anatomy

All bladeites possess a thick trunk, which have large bark scales on them. The trunk and the scales are a brown colour; shades differ between subspecies. The roots are very thick, on some subspecies they are partially visible above the surface, but for most they go straight down underground. The leaves are the biggest difference between subspecies, some are curly, some are short and straight, but all the bladeites have sharp leaves, hence the "blade" part of their names.

Biological Traits

Depending on where you are in the Tropics or the Region of Sarra, the bladeites will look vastly different. In the tropical rainforest of Tropacia, the bladeites have long, straight, dark green leaves. In the deserts of the Region of Sarra, the leaves are a light green due to the sunlight bleaching them, and they are very curly.

Genetics and Reproduction

Bladeites, after 2 years of its existence, will start to grow fruits called blade fruits. These fruits grow on the tips of the outer ring of leaves, which forces the leaves to dangle down due to the weight of the fruits. The fruits, when they fall, they rot, leaving the seed on the ground. Wind rolls the seeds and it gets caught in the ground and it grows.

Ecology and Habitats

Bladeites are comfortable in many environments in hot climates. Tropics bladeites grow in the tropical rainforest and the savannas of the Tropics, desert bladeites exist in the arid deserts and savannas of the Region of Sarra.
Geographic Distribution

Bladeite Swords

In the Tropics, bladeite leaves are used as swords. The strong leaves are incredibly sharp, and when stuck onto a handle provide for strong temporary swords. Tribes also carve arrow points and use them with their bows.
