Treaty of interdependence; The Foundation of the Eastern Alliance

Black blood soaked through the white cloth. Again, water was poured onto the open wounds, scented with jasmine flowers and leaves she didn't recognize. Again, she wiped his back, feeling it spasm despite her gentle touch. Swollen, painfully raw. It surprised her how quickly the flesh had become in such short order. Nodding, she left, and he returned, knife in hand.

Purpose

An official treaty acknowledging the sovereignty of the Kjurvog and the promise of the Emperor to maintain peace. It served as a final warning.

References

The Teachings of the Heavens are mentioned several times, at least in the original. Many renditions have been made, etched into the skin of chosen Ömed. Mentions of Trel faith is often ignored, or entirely replaced with whatever religion is the most popular at the time. The Vampire's vision, however, is never altered between living manifestos.

Historical Details

Background

It was the early days of the Kjurvog. Guvyan had taken the curse upon himself, transformed and ascended beyond mortal confines, all done in the name of the people. Yet the Trel continued to undermine his progress, threatening them with their lack of compliance. Mercenaries and spies dogged the Kjurvog at every step. When Guvyan turned his back on the Outsiders and invaded their lands, they forced their Emperor to transcribe the document. Though bad blood remained, the two forces became as one.

Public Reaction

A small disturbance ran through the people of Trel. Despite the best efforts of the Emperor and the magistrates, the objections and fears couldn't be stamped down in time. To withstand another uprising, the tale spinners of Trel went to work, convincing the people of the magnitude of the Vampire and those who followed. To witness the Emperor was unseemly, but the common people could witness the Emperor's Shadow; the purest ascension, akin to some dark divinity, stood before them not long ago. If their allies, and former enemies, held such splendor, then surely their masters would be thrice as magnificent.
