The Sisters of Penance
Bitterness, hate, and contentiousness fill the lands within Xùyì. The seeds of malice, though small, are sown across the four winds, growing out of control like weeds within a garden, choking the aspirations of many. Young men die, cut down in their prime, claiming honor as their lifeblood, and that of their kin turns the rivers red. The Sisters of Penance stand against the status quo, preaching a message of forgiveness among those whose ancestral grudges have torn families, businesses, and relationships apart.
Structure
The Sisters have no official structure, nor are any masters among their ranks. Each member is on a journey, attempting to right the wrongs that they've committed, whether directly or through silence, by helping others extinguish the flames of hate. On the rarest of occurrences is someone removed from this vocation, as each of the Sisters seeks to fulfill their goals independently from one another. Permanent residents of this order, called Elder Sisters or Aunts, depending on their age, are often looked to for leadership by the newer members, or those still trying to right their own wrongs.
Public Agenda
- Educating the public. The Sisters firmly believe that it is vital for those seeking their services to be of a contrite heart.
- Transforming evil into good. Vengeance is a commodity among those of Trel and many in the rest of the world. Ancestral grudges must be broken for healing to begin.

- Hiring messengers. Many cases of wrongdoing require aid in finding the offended party. The Sisters will hire messengers and utilize billboards to help find peace.
Sets up different ways to find others, billboards, and messengers in local taverns.
- Investigating the Wrongdoing. Guilt consumes many, and there are often cases of it being misplaced. If a Sister feels the need, she may investigate the occurrence and render a correct judgment.
- Chastising the unforgiving. The Sisterhood seeks peace. If the offended party refuses to accept any of the actions taken to regain their trust, the Sisters will intervene and attempt to sway them towards the path of reconciliation. Many holy books, which the Sisters are fond of, speak tirelessly of the importance of unity, compassion, and second chances.
- Securing a better tomorrow. There are instances, though few, where the path to peace requires blood. The Sisters are willing to perform actions contrary to their beliefs for the greater good.
Assets
Goodwill from those whom the Sisters encounter maintains most of their needs, allowing them to keep their ever-growing numbers. However, permanent members often work alongside members of the communities that they're residing in, accepting a portion of their labor to aid other members of their order. Excess is given back to the community, furthering their cause.
History
The history of the Sisters has several heads, yet none have come to an end. Originating from Trel, which itself was forged in wrongdoing and regret, the Sisters of Penance were founded with one woman's desire to atone for past evils by aiding the community. Yet, the harder she worked towards that lofty goal, the further it seemed. Eventually, others would be discovered, similarly desiring to wash away their guilt.
More flocked to the banner of peace. By helping themselves, they encouraged others to right past wrongs and fully embody the lessons taught in the temples in their daily lives. The sisterhood has grown significantly, the message spreading along many lands and faiths, many welcoming their sight.
