Le Friand in Anhara
Author
Le Friand, or "he of good taste" in Old Anharan, is the pseudonym of a professional chef who lived sometime around the mid-200s AM. His identity was unknown, as they traveled incognito in order to review and document the various cuisines across Anhara, the Julfar Savanna, and some of the Litoric Islands. His expertise and congeniality allowed him welcome access to far flung parts of the nation, and Le Friand was able to record the recipes, lore, and stories of Anharan cuisine during one of the nation's most storied periods. His book allows scholars a glimpse not just at food, but at the daily lives of Anharans in an era before the nation had fully begun to centralize.Contents
"The smell of Meliloaf wafted towards me as I passed by farms miles outside of the city. I told my companions we would need to stop soon, as any experienced festival-goer knows the food is better if you get it in the countryside." - Le Friand in AnharaLe Friand in Anhara consisted of a number of volumes, one for each region of Anhara. The format generally started with a description of the approach to whatever city or region Le Friand was visiting, as well as a description of prominent local sites, many of which no longer exist. The recipes for which the book is most commonly used were only included after a thorough documentation of the cultural significance, as well as the recommended spots for purchasing, of each dish. Le Friand also included many tips for the average travel, such as what routes to avoid, what out-of-the-way sites were worth visiting, and tidbits of local history they found interesting.
