The Skyring Expeditionary
The Skyring Expeditionary is an Archeological guild that is directly controlled by The Sages of Skyring. They were formed as a specialized force for leading expeditions into ruins, conducting archeological digs, and for researching the more historical side to places and relics, as opposed to the strictly magical aspects of them. Unlike the Sages of Skyring, the Skyring Expeditionary accepts non-magic users, as well as divine magic users, rather than being a strictly arcane organization. That being said, many members of the Expeditionary are simultaneously members of the Sages of Skyring themselves, and the Expeditionary is often used as a testing grounds for Potentials.
Structure
The Expeditionary has three sets of rankings depending on the member's classing. There are three different types of Expeditioner, known as classes. Members of the first class are called "Retrievers" and consist of those whose expertise is primarily related to the acquisition of relics and magical items. Retrievers can be of virtually any calling, from Rogues to Fighters to Clerics, they are basically just adventurers who are being sent to help the others get to the items they are trying to acquire. Members of the second class are referred to as archeologists, and it is their job to learn about both the artifacts they are seeking, as well as the ruins that hold them. They must be well versed in knowledges, and are preferably adept at overcoming common obstacles within ancient ruins (such as locks, molds, and traps). Archeologists are frequently Bards, Rogues, Rangers, or otherwise skillful. The last classification of member is referred to as a "Arcane Ambassador" and consist entirely of mages who are also members of The Sages of Skyring. There is at least one Archeologist and one Arcane Ambassador on each team that is sent out. Unlike the other classifications, Arcane Ambassadors only hold one rank within the Expeditionary, their relative position instead being determined by their position in the Sages of Skyring.
