Path

A path is a means of traversal between Realms. Some conceive of them as branches or roots of the World Tree (such as at the Lonely Inn), others as walking a Maze (as is common in Sanctuary), and some as a great Network (the belief in Crooked House). Essentially, a path is a naturally-occurring connection between two Realms which traverses and skirts the edges of the dimensions. Some paths are straightforward. Others are circuitous and often nonsensical. There are those that can be walked without any skill or training and many others that require the senses of a World Walker to identify them and map out how to walk them. Nearly all paths are one way, however.
A place where two paths intersect is called a Crossroads. A well-known example of a Crossroads is the convergence of paths that lead to The Lonely Inn.
A place where many paths terminate is called a Junction, though the paths are often not immediately adjacent. A renowed example of a Junction is the town known as Sanctuary or Haven.
There are also liminal regions with limited ingress, but with many paths leading away from them. These are called Byways. The Road, the River, the Sea, the Labyrinth, the Void, the Black, and the Railway are all known Byways.
