It has been so long since the world nearly ended—the Cataclysm. Not even the oldest of elders can recall how the original legends sounded. And before even that, there were the ancient wars of the gods, though even less is known about them. Perhaps some forgotten scroll lingers in the old chronicles but Neithiri won't let us peek... Or maybe the stories of those times are hidden in vast libraries, but who would want to get lost in them. Today, these ancient stories hold little interest for most. This is a new age, and I wonder what tomorrow will bring, for dark and cruel times are upon us—times of war and chaos.
Come closer, gather around, and I shall tell you the stories of the Third Age. Just listen well.
The journey of Thalas on World Anvil began on December 1st, 2024, but its heart beats with a life forged nearly five years before. It is a world in progress, ever-evolving, from the tiniest whispers of plants to grand sagas of history and myth. Born from the fires of imagination, it first took shape as a homebrew D&D campaign, a shared dream woven for my friends. Since then, Thalas has undergone countless transformations, refining itself into a realm that demands permanence. I told myself: "What is written is written, and all that follows must adapt."
Now, I walk the path of an author-at least I hope one day I will became a one, with my pen tracing the stories of this living, breathing world. Each word written fuels both the book I am crafting and this growing archive of lore, a symphony of creativity intertwined. Thalas is more than a pastime—it is a labor of love, a reflection of passion poured into every detail, great and small.
I dream that one day this world may inspire others as it has inspired me. To those who read, I welcome your thoughts, your insights, your questions. Every word of feedback is a precious spark, helping me to shape this creation into something truly remarkable. Dive into the stories of Thalas, and may they bring you joy, wonder, and perhaps a spark of inspiration of your own.
"Let me guide you around, show you the ropes of this place. There's plenty to learn, and who knows—maybe I can find you some honest work while we're at it. That way, you'll get to know this world quicker than wandering off and getting lost in some shadowy forest!"
