Grand Republic of Idland

The birth of of republics occurred in 933 when the The Kingdom of Alamor petitioned the parliament body to call for volunteers to colonize the far south eastern portion of Sithre. Delegates met with the Dwarven Forgemasters of Sithre to ensure that their settlers would be safe to land and procure land and title along the western peninsula. With the Dwarves blessing, nearly five thousand settlers over six waves landed in the bay to lay the foundations of the city of Tabbacland. The move to colonize the cold and dangerous region was to deny the ever expansive Royal Draugen Empire the ability to make a definitive presence in the east. Successfully the settlers began to build and strengthen bonds with the Dwarves in Khaz Morgris, who provided massive amounts of limestone and granite for the construction of the city. By 950, the Barons and Counts of Tabbacland were approached by the common citizenry of the city to attempt the concept of having the people vote on important issues just like in Kingdom of Alamor. While the nobility were aprehensive to the idea of reliquishing power, nonetheless they were bound by duty to report the meeting back to the Kingdom of Alamor. With the blessing of the then King Cassinian, the petition was approved and a great experience never seen on Mythris began. The nobility folded into the first delegates of the Grand Parliament of the Republic of Idland. It was declared in the charter that every settlement regardless of population, wealth or influence would provide six delegates each. Votes would be cast from the most common of citizens every three years to elect their delegates for their respected cities. Very quickly, freedoms increased as did commerce through free market economies. Silver mines were opened by private companies, Bloodpine Forest was beggining to be harvested by private logging companies, and wages increased over a short time. Idland was very quickly becoming the talk of the Kingdom of Alamor and many more peasants quickly rushed to immigrate to the harsh landscape across the ocean. In 1101, Idland asked for independence from The Kingdom of Alamor under the conditions it would remain a tactical and economic ally. King Cassinian agreed to the meager terms, understanding that although the Republic would no longer be bound by law or charter, would still be a formidable ally and province that would deny the totalitarianism of the Royal Draugen Empire.
