Baru

Overview

Baru is one of the four continents of the World of Light and Darkness. It is the coldest continent, and contains the Verdant Plains, the Landrise Mountains, the Coldsnap Tundra, the Whalespout Geyser Fields, the Strait of Imrannoris, and the Isle of Snowfall. Baru is also the homeland of elves.

Geography

The Verdant Plains

The Verdant Plains cover the southern half of Baru. They are ruled by the United Elven Townships, and inhabited by primarily Leaf elves, who live simple, wandering lives. The plains are mostly flat with some rolling hills, sparse trees, and a few small waterways. The plains are inhabited by Branchhorn Antelope, Talltail Deer, and Xanthar’s Horses. The apex predator of the Verdant Plains are Overwinterwolves, great beasts that move silently through the night, migrating from the north to the south and back again over the year.

The Landrise Mountains

The Landrise Mountains divide the continent along the border of the Verdant Plains and the Coldsnap Tundra. Once ruled by the Empire of the Lost, these relatively gentle mountains are now inhabited by Mountain elves, who live solitary lives in ruined cities and forgotten temples, recording a history that’s on the verge of being lost. Among these ruins, rocks, and sturdy trees live Yonder-Watchers, Quiet Prongs, and Echoing Hawks. The apex predator of the Landrise Mountains is the Snowcrack, a strange, weasel-like beast with sharp claws and long fangs.
