The Weave
The Weave is a poorly understood but much researched thing. It seems to be another dimension overlaid over everything, permeating anything from people to rocks. The Weave is where all magic comes from, and being able to manipulate the Weave would allow someone much stronger spellcasting. The Weave has only been discovered due to elves unique ability to see it, and while at first they did not understand what they were seeing, today many of the Weaves secrects have been discovered.
For the most part, knowing about the Weave will not change much for anyone except for elves. However, all mages are thought about it due to 2 reasons: Schools of magic and whats called the Winds of Magic. Winds of Magic is the more easily understood of these, and is simply a name for the phenomena that the Weave moves about and this movement can make magic stronger or weaker in an area. The schools of magic however, are a bit harder to understand. At first it was believed that all spells came from the same magic, however, research has shown that different kinds of spells pulls from one of eight different pools of magic. Thus it came to be that all spells were sorted into schools of magic depending on which pool of magic they draw from, although it is worth it to note that some spells do not fit within their school of magic; this is something that has perplexed many mages. This knowledge has also allowed some mages to specialise into a certain school of magic. The eight schools of magic are:

This knowledge has also allowed some mages to specialise into a certain school of magic. The eight schools of magic are:
- School of Conjuration: Conjuration magic draws on the Weaves ability to create or erase things, this can be used to create items, creatures, spirits and more.
- School of Necromancy: Despite its bad reputation, necromancy magic is not simply reanimating the dead, but about controlling the ebb and flow of life force, or as some call it, souls.
- School of Evocation: Evocation magic is about pulling the Weave itself into our world and manipulating it into something destructive or healing.
- School of Abjuration: Abjuration is the magic of defense, forming the Weave in such a way it protects you or your allies. Abjuration magic also has the ability to manipulate the Weave in such a way that magic cannot be cast.
- School of Transmutation: Transmutation magic is very simple to understand, as it is just changing the way something behaves, its form or even what it is.
- School of Divination: Divination is about knowledge and foresight. Making the Weave reveal secrects that may have otherwise been impossible to discern.
- School of Enchantment: Enchantment, within circles that study or know a lot about magic, this school is looked most down upon. This is due to enchantment magic manipulating others, changing the way they think or the way their body acts.
- School of Illusion: Illusion is perhaps the most simple school of magic, using the Weave to create fake images, noises, smells or feelings.
