Nevermore

While actually a curse, Nevermore is usually refered to as a beast or living thing. No one knows where the curse comes from, only that it has been around for hundreds of years and has only spread further throughout the land. A couple hundred years ago there was a holy crusade to try and eradicate the Nevermores freeing the land of the curse. While partially successfull they didn't have the resources to fully eradicate it, and despite having pushed it back, it simply reappeared. This has lead to scholars concluding that anything a Nevermore touch can be potentially infected with the curse despite not showing any signs of it. This makes dealing with Nevermores extremely dangerous, entire villages have been abandoned after a Nevermore has been spotted.

Nevermores come in as many shapes as there are animals, beasts and people. The curse manifests as a small black spot where contact with the curse happend. It can be very small and hardly noticeable, it depends on how much was touched. from there tendrils start spreading out from it as the spot grows larger and more irregular. Usually after 8-16 hours, darkness and shadows begin to seep off from the infected area, a sign that the curse has taken deep roots. This black mist dissappates quickly, but is also the most infectious part of the curse, being touched by it will usually result in multiple black spots appearing within seconds. It is genreally considered that you on average have 2 days to have the curse removed or you're lost. Although cases as quick as only 6 hours are known. Getting help gets difficult if you let it get so bad it covers about half your body, or if it's on your head. At this point, intense and convulted hallucinations become common. This in turn make people frantic, scared and panic, often ending up in them trying to isolate themself or running till they pass out. Because of this, many choose to kill themselves or kill someone who is infected if help is impossible. When over 80% of the body is covered two known responses happen, one is a complete calm, the victim simply laying on the ground staring or looking at something, simply unaware of anything else. The other is writhing in pain, trashing and screaming as the curse's roots start to take permanent hold.

Once fully infected, a Nevermore only needs a minute or two, before the curses instincts kick in. Will wander around, hunting anything that moves. It will attack to maim and disable, never killing, its objective to spread the curse further. Some have even been known to imploy hit and run tactics, but this level of intelligence is the only shred of sentience they have ever shown. Self preservation is of no concern to them, gladly getting killed if it means touching someone else. Although rare, if two Nevermores form in the same area, they tend to walk together and work together, however rarely coordianted at all.

The earliest stages of the Nevermore curse is able to be removed with a simply Lesser Restoration spell. However, it is often only discovered later. Once tendrils start spreading, a Remove Curse spell is needed to stop the infection, often this has to be combined with healing magic to be effective so the body can push out the infection instead of letting it grab hold again. Once you start hallucinating, you will need either powerful healing spells or many lesser healing spells until you are stable enough to no longer hallucinate or be in pain, at which point you will need at least 1 Greater Restoration and 1 Remove Curse, in some cases more depending on the severity of the curse. When most of your body is covered, the curse has taken such deep roots that you will need treatment over several months with healing spells and restoration spells to have a hope of getting rid of the curse. In some instances powerful healing potions can keep the curse at bay, however this is not enough to get rid of the curse.
