Lucky Landon's

This two-story building is in the center of the village, a small stabling yard sits in the back. The smell of meats roasting and biscuits baking seem to draw you inside, where more than a dozen tables take up a large common room. The bar sits to your left with the kitchen behind it, while at the other end of the common room two private rooms stand open, with a stairway up in between them. A large fire across from the entry doesn't seem like it should heat the place, but the common room is warm and feels cozier than it should.   Behind the bar, a blond-haired man with a beard is handing out drinks to three serving girls, who bustle between the half-dozen occupied tables. The customers seem to be a mix of villagers, merchants, and the merchants' hirelings. A few rougher-looking hillmen make up the remainder of the customers.

Menu and Prices

The cost of food and drink at Lucky Landon's is higher than usual. It is the only inn for many miles, the place is renowned and its food better than average, and the area is prosperous.   Choice venison, mutton, poached salmon, trout stuffed with specially prepared mixtures, goose roasted to a golden brown, pork, steaming sausages, steak and kidney pie with mushrooms or truffles, squab stuffed pheasant, and boiled crayfish in drawn butter are just a few of the epicurian delights which are expected and served here.   The locally brewed (Larad's Brewery) ale and beer is supplemented by brews from other sites, and wine, mead and brandy from all over Brineven make their way to the boards of Lucky Landon's.   Meals are served on pottery, pewter, or copper services, according to the order. Various leather jacks, pottery mugs, wooden tankards, pewter steins, glass flagons, crystal goblets, or silver chalices are used for potables.   Villagers with less coin can get some basic biscuits, breads and broths for 1 sp, average meals cost 3 sp each, while Idele's masterpieces will cost a diner 8 sp.   Larad's brews cost 5 cp per mug, or 2 sp per pitcher. Local wines from the hills cost about 2 sp per glass, while Landon has some imported fine wines locked in the cellars, which he charges between 5-10 gp per bottle.
