• Adam § Serum Inheritor: Marqués grandfather, USMC Lt. Marquis Anthony Butler, received the United States Super Soldier (§) Serum I, otherwise known as the Adam Serum, during World War II. His son, Marcellus James de Dior, was born with the powers of the Adam Serum and Marqués inherited it from him.
• The Adam Serum was the first-generation § enhancement developed post-WWI, granting recipients superhuman strength, speed, stamina, rapid healing, and extended lifespan, while also amplifying any latent mutations or powers. Its effects were heritable, making it both a military breakthrough and a long-term genetic wildcard.
• Energy Manipulation: The power to control and transform the fundamental force that causes change and does work in various forms. The user can freely create, shape, and manipulate energy. They possess complete control over energy, the capacity or ability to cause change or do work, one of the most basic quantitative properties of a system, such as an object or a field of energy. Energy can be transformed (converted) into a number of forms that may each manifest and be measurable in differing ways. The law of conservation of energy states that the (total) energy of a system can increase or decrease only by transferring it in or out of the system, thus the total energy of a system can be calculated by simple addition when it is composed of multiple non-interacting parts or has multiple distinct forms of energy.
• Marqués has an internal limit to how much 'energy' he can generate, store, and manipulate before his health and/or control of such energies fall beyond his reach. However, this limit seems to increase slowly passively.
• Marqués powers surpass that of other known energy manipulators, likely a result of his heritage.
• Some of the known advanced capabilities of Marqués' powers are;
• Energy Immunity: Power to be completely unharmed by energy.
• Ergokinetic Flight: The power to use energy to propel oneself to fly.
• Energy Defense: The power to use energy to defend oneself.

The symbol on Marqués' chest is a golden circle with stylized wings on either side. Within the circle is another gold-filled circle that has been broken apart.

• The Oathkeeper Uniform: Marqués' supersuit is made out of Dynamic Molecules, tailored to accommodate his energy-based powers.
• Embroided Drape of the 13th Wind, the: A magic deep royal blue material Marqués was gifted by the magical Wizard King YOIT. The cape provides significant resistance to magical threats, hides Marqués from magical observation and if pulled over, can act as a shield, becoming as durable as steel while as light as a feather. The cape is a hallowed magical artifact from Yoit, the Grand Confluence of the Thirteen Winds, the magical city of North America.

Marqués Santiago Butler Mejía is the son of a Metahuman Civil Rights activist and a lawyer from California where he grew up. When his powers began to manifest, Marqués eagerly pursued a career as a professional superhero, serving as a sidekick to several California-based heroes before striking out on his own after college and eventually got into the Arsenals In Training (AIT) program for the Arsenals of Democracy, the premier superhero team officially sponsored by the U.S. and the UN.

• The Arsenals of Democracy (Junior Arsenals of North America Division): Joined the Arsenals In Training (AIT) program before admission into the Junior Arsenals of North America Division after defeating the Five Paths at the UN building in New York City. Served on the Junior division for 7 months before officially joining the Arsenals of Democracy for 5 months prior to termination.
• Status: TERMINATED
• Reason: CLASSIFIED
• The Vanguard School: Subject was MIA for three years, believed to have been training under the meta-human Vanguard (Étienne Honoré de Dior) ex member of the Five Paths and former Captain of the Arsenals of Democracy. The Vanguard School is located in a quasi-magical realm assailable via the Arctic.
• The World's Legion (Founding Member & Captain): After returning from a three-year disappearance, Marqués publicly discarded his US citizenship and all ties to Earth before creating a new superhero team, one separated from politics or influence.

Marqués' mother was brutally killed in an attack that left his half-sister crippled from the waist down. This was caused by the Path Vanguard, sent by the Five paths to kill any lingering bastards of their father, the disgraced former 44th President of the United States, All-American, currently imprisoned on the moon by UN resolutions. This was all in preparation for their grand plan to release their father when he was brought before the UN in NYC in a few months for his annual parole hearing.

Vanguard, a warrior by nature, found the attack boring and left Marqués in a coma for a few months, believing that if he did survive, he would be too afraid to be a threat.

Marqués is often described as playing the Fool or feinting aloofness. He hides a cornucopia of pain under a veneer of humor and quirks that implies he is probably unsure of why he is even at a certain location. Even if he is in peril or fatally wounded, Marqués retains a certain degree of "sass" that has landed him in more trouble than he can take.

The Five Paths Attack at the United Nations Building in New York City

When the Five Paths attempted to force the UN to release their father, All-American, from his prison on the moon, Oathkeeper and the rest of the Arsenals would intervene to defeat the rogue metahumans, return All-American to his cell, and prevent the start of another global war.

Marqués' actions in this attack is what allowed him to be recognized for joining the Arsenals Junior Division of North America. Despite being credited with defeating all Five Paths publicly, Marqués only defeated four of the Paths, Vanguard was left undefeated and left Marqués in a mortally wounded state.

• The Arsenals of Democracy (AOD): Marqués served on the infamous AOD team for about a year before he left. Further investigation reveals that the Department of Defense instructed the Hostile Anomaly Vigilance & Operations Commission (HAVOC) to develop a countermeasure to Marqués, as they have for all the Arsenals. To this end, HAVOC employed a coworker of Marqués to secure blood samples, DNA, monitor brain activity, build an intimate psych profile, and eventually lure him to a facility for more comprehensive analysis. This would backfire when Marqués learned the truth and immediately left the AOD team. This female coworker was currently in a relationship with Marqués when she was approached by HAVOC who promised to secure her a spot on the AOD team in exchange for her services.
• While the above incident incited Marqués to finally leave, he seemed to already have lost faith in the AOD and their power after witnessing first hand how they operate and what they valued as worthy of their time.

• Étienne Honoré de Dior (Half-Brother): Étienne killed Marqués' mother, and despite this fact, Marqués still trianed unde rhim for three years. Marqués claims he and his half-brother have a pact, one of the death nature. He refused to iterate but we suspect Marqués and Étienne have a death pact to kill each other one day. Or, more likely, Marques trying to kill Étienne, considering he is the most powerful metahuman on the face of this world.
