Downtime
Each week (starting every Monday), you have 2 Downtimes, also known as DTs. Going on a Mission counts as a single DT, and you can only go on one each week. You can carry over 1 unused DT per week, to a maximum of 4. When redeeming a DT from a previous week you refer to the level you were then, not your current level.
You must write down your DTs and any purchases in the provided Discord channel for both.
You cannot use spells, items, or any other kind of buff as part of your downtime, only your normal skills.
Factions
Alchemy
If the inn is not the place you wish to stay, you can spend time looking for or building a different place for you to stay. This will not grant you a text channel, and is an RP benefit only. The same rules apply, however it only requires 10 Development Points to complete.
You can also increase your Development Points by spending Renown. You must declare what Faction the Renown is being spent towards as they help you build. This can be done with personal buildings and Guilds.
To manually add firearm proficiency to DNDBeyond: Click on weapon Proficiencies -> Add new Proficiencies -> weapon -> Pistol, Musket

Resource Gain
Contests
Veil’s End has exciting opportunities around every corner. If you’re willing to bet on your abilities, it could result in a higher payout than typical work, but it doesn’t come without risk. You are able to find a variety of local contests and competitions to participate in, anything from a tense game of poker, an archery contest, or a battle of the bands. Based on your level, you roll dice to determine the amount of gold gained.Level | Lvl 3 | Lvl 4 | Lvl 5 | Lvl 6 | Lvl 7 | Lvl 8 | Lvl 9 | Lvl 10 | Lvl 11 | Lvl 12 | Lvl 13 |

Renown Gain
The factions in town always need help supporting the community, and you are here to help them. As a reward for your contributions, you do not gain gold, but instead your reputation increases. Whether you are assisting the Golden Banner, the Opal Eye, or the Frontier, you gain Renown that can be spent at any of the 3 factions in Veil’s End. When you choose this DT, you automatically gain 1 Renown. You can increase this amount by succeeding on a skill or tool check. Succeeding on a DC 15 check increases your reward to 2 Renown, and succeeding on a DC 25 check increases your reward to 3 Renown. Renown can be spent on the factions here:Factions

Work
You take some time to do work around Veil’s End. There’s something for everyone’s skill set, from chopping down trees for construction jobs, working in the greenhouses tending to plants, organizing books in the library, providing medical aid to the sick, to doing some more unsavory under the table things, there is always work to be done. Based on your level, you gain a set amount of gold pieces for your work.Level | Lvl 3 | Lvl 4 | Lvl 5 | Lvl 6 | Lvl 7 | Lvl 8 | Lvl 9 | Lvl 10 | Lvl 11 | Lvl 12 | Lvl 13 |

Crafting
Alchemy
There’s a variety of interesting flora throughout Valoris, and interesting components make for interesting results. You use the unique materials cultivated from this land to craft potions. As a DT you mix two available ingredients together and create one potion that has both effects. These potions are also available to be bought, depending on the material cost of the ingredients.Alchemy
Construction
Veil’s End is a great place to start new endeavors! You devote time and energy to building and developing a space of your own, or a space for you and others. A Guild is a personal structure that you and a group of members have agreed upon creating, often for a specific purpose due to shared interests. Upon completion of Guild construction, a text chat will be created. This can be private (accessible only for guild members and DMs), or public. The building is decently sized, and can be personalized (within reason) by you and the other members. Speak with a DM about specifics if you are concerned. By choosing this DT, you automatically are rewarded 1 Development Point, but by succeeding on a skill or tool check you can increase this amount. Succeeding on a DC 13 check increases your reward to 2 Development Points, and succeeding on a DC 20 check increases your reward to 3 Development Points. Multiple people can cooperate to contribute Development Points to one Guild. The Guild is completed once 30 Development Points have been acquired.
Magewriting
Using your knowledge of magic and its strange interactions with the world around you, you are able to implant a spell that you know into a gemstone. This crystalline catalyst is called a Spell Gem. Though only mages can create Spell Gems, anyone is able to activate the Gem. Activating the Gem allows you to use the spell embedded in it as if they were casting it. As a DT, you can craft Spell Gems. The number of Spell Gems you can craft depends on the levels of the spells you implant in the Gems. You can craft Spell Gems that contain spells that sum to a total of one lower than the highest-level spell you can cast. For example, if the highest-level spell you can cast is 6th level, you can craft Spell Gems that sum up to 5th level. This could be one 5th level Gem, one 2nd level Gem and one 3rd level Gem, or even five 1st level Gems. Only spells that cost an action, bonus action, or reaction can be woven into the crystals as any longer casting times would cause the crystal to be unstable. You cannot use a Spell Gem and cast a leveled spell on the same turn. The spell attack of a Spell Gem is the spell’s level plus your Proficiency Bonus. The spell save DC of a Spell Gem is the spell’s level, plus your Proficiency Bonus, plus 8.Personal Changes
Ability Retraining
Over time, our capabilities and our needs may change. If you have an Invocation, Known Infusion, Fighting Style, Battle Master Maneuver, Metamagic option, or Pact Boon, you can swap one of them out for another of the same type that would typically be accessible with the feature that provided you the initial option. Note, you can not change your Feats, but you can change features acquired from Feats like the Fighting Style options from the Fighting Initiate Feat.Change Class or Subclass (Costs 2 DTs)
Over time, your adventuring niche has changed. While your general skills remain the same, your specialty can now change to better suit your capabilities. At the cost of 2 DTs, you can change your class or subclass. You do not need DM approval to do this, but it must be communicated clearly in the Downtime channel. Note you cannot change your stats or feats when you under go this change.Firearm Training
You spend time training with firearms, now having access to these unique Valoris weapons. Firearms have the benefit of powerful shots, but they require closer range than a standard crossbow. You gain Weapon Proficiency in Firearms. To manually add firearm proficiency to DNDBeyond: Click on weapon Proficiencies -> Add new Proficiencies -> weapon -> Pistol, Musket
Proficiency Retraining
You spend time learning a new proficiency, either a language or a tool, but in the process, you lose the prowess you once had in something else. You can swap one language proficiency you already have for another language that you are not already proficient in, or you can swap a tool proficiency for a different tool proficiency that you do not have. You can not swap a language proficiency for a tool proficiency, nor vice versa.Skill Retraining
You spend time training a new skill, letting one of your other skills fall out of practice. You can swap one skill proficiency you already have to another skill that you are not already proficient in. You can also use this downtime to swap expertise in a skill you are proficient in to another skill that you are proficient in.Spell Retraining
You spend time studying your arcane relationship with the mystical arts, and are able to adjust your abilities. If you are a Spellcaster with known spells (Bard, Eldritch Knight, Ranger, Sorcerer, Warlock), you can swap one known spell for another. The new spell must be within your class’s spell list and of the same level as the spell you replace. This also applies to retraining cantrips.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
