The city of Veil's End is home to three factions formed from Faerun. All factions are friendly to each other and often times embark on operations together. They also help uphold the city itself, providing as landmarks that not only add visual interest to the city, but important resources and information as well. As you embark on missions word will spread of your capabilities and you will gain renown, possibly allowing you to gain favors from these factions.
Factions
THE GOLDEN BANNER
New lands mean glory! Opportunities to capitalize on new resources and open trade between lands. Terrifying monsters and epic battles await those who rally to the banner. Those who rally to the Golden Banner seek gold and glory and to have their name permanently etched into the tablets of time.
THE FRONTIER
New lands mean a new life! The frontier seeks to capitalize on the possibility of a new life away from dreary homes. The frontier is a conglomerate of refugees and workers ready to settle in new lands! Let the slate be clean and let the call of adventure envelope your heart.
THE OPAL EYE
New lands mean knowledge! Researchers and scholars have gathered together to seek new lore and knowledge hidden within the new land. Ruins and treasure all have a tale to tell, and the Opal Eye seeks to write it all down and spread their knowledge.
Renown
Whether gained from completing missions or getting ones name out through other means, renown is a resource that is spent exclusively on mission. Before embarking on a mission you may spend renown with one of the three factions to better prepare yourself by purchasing a mission buff. Mission buffs are active for a single mission and you can purchase up to two per. Spending renown with a faction also increases its reputation allowing it to open more options for new mission buffs.
Renown can also be spent to assist with your Construction Downtime. Spending Renown in this way has you declaring what Faction is helping you with construction and then the number of Renown spent is equal to the nuber of Development Points added to the construction that you and possibly fellow adventurers are working on.
When a Faction has 20 Renown spent on it, it upgrades to Rank 1. It upgrades to Rank 2 the same way once 55 Renown is spent, and again upgrades to Rank 3 once 125 Renown is spent.
