Overview

The Second Suian War is recognized as the most destructive internal conflict to strike the Realm of Alagor in recorded history. Orchestrated by King Kylok of Su, the war was waged with the express intent of dismantling sorcery from the realm and establishing Suian supremacy through technological dominance. The conflict culminated in the complete destruction of Kylok’s regime and significant changes to Alagor’s internal structure and cultural outlook.

While officially classified as a regional war, its consequences reshaped the realm's identity, governance, and its stance on magical practice. The war’s catalyst was not merely ambition, but the veiled manipulation of the Cult of Atrops, which guided Kylok toward chaos for their own ends.

Causation & Preliminary Incidents

Multiple intelligence summaries preceding the war indicated a rise in Suian military mobilization, unusual artifact seizures, and coded communications between known Atropic agents and Su’s higher echelons.

The explicit aims of Kylok, as outlined in recovered Suian communiqués, included:

  • The erasure of magical doctrine from Alagorian systems.
  • The consolidation of all regional powers under a unified Suian banner.
  • The creation of a dominion in which sorcery was forbidden, punishable by death.
  • The forging of a relic—the Amulet of Atrops—via an unknown sacrificial ritual.

Significant Persons of Note

  • King Octavius Athomath – Sovereign of Alagor; oversaw defensive war strategy and post-war reconstruction.
  • Queen Ninym Athomath – Diplomatic envoy and consort of Octavius; captured and sacrificed during the war’s escalation.
  • King Kylok of Su – Instigator of the war; manipulated by the Cult of Atrops; ultimately removed from existence via Weave-intervention.
  • Nolan Putman – High Strategist of Alagor; coordinated realmwide military unification and cross-kingdom supply routes.
  • Queen Mother Melania – Killed during the royal escort ambush.

Chronicle of Major Events

The Ambush of the Royal Caravan
What began as a diplomatic outreach resulted in tragedy. The queen’s caravan was rerouted through unstable territory due to a failure in coordination—later revealed to be intentional sabotage. Suian raiders ambushed the delegation. Queen Ninym was taken alive; Queen Mother Melania fell in defense.

The Breaking of the Pact
Kylok’s forces deployed weaponized relics to disrupt leyline boundaries across central Alagor. Several minor territories aligned briefly with Su under false promises of autonomy, only to be absorbed and conscripted.

Battle of the Unified Banners (Six-Kingdom Campaign)
Octavius led a fully unified military campaign against Su with the combined banners of Valtoria, Seartor, Helfor, Dravonell, Loradel, and Athomathia. During the engagement, after bare witness to his wife's death, Octavius called upon the Weave with unprecedented clarity and executed the erasure of King Kylok from existence.

Siege of Su
The siege of Suian territory continued for weeks after Kylok's removal. Resistance forces collapsed slowly as the Cult of Atrops fragmented.

Post-Conflict Governance

Su was declared a transitional province under direct Senate supervision. Martial curfews and cultural rehabilitation programs were implemented. A regent was instated by royal decree; the monarchy of Su was permanently dissolved. No descendants of Kylok were permitted to inherit land, title, or station.

Legacy & Observations

The Second Suian War had the following long-term impacts:

  • Legislative Oversight – Enhanced scrutiny over internal kingdom military growth.
  • Cultural Unity – An increase in shared rituals and common language usage across kingdoms.
  • Magical Policy Reform – All magical training within Alagor fell under the purview of the Royal Lexicon of Arcana.
  • Emotional Reverence – Queen Ninym is remembered in poetry, monument, and state ceremony.

King Octavius entered partial seclusion within the Palace of Athomathia following the war’s resolution. His reign continued, but his personal appearances became rare and deeply symbolic.
