Osarian Emperor
The Osarian Empire is governed and ruled by a Emperor. Although it is technically an elective title, an emperor is only elected when lineage ends without an heir. The title itself is seen to be the equivalent of "king" in the Osarian Empire but many people in the Empire see "emperor" as holding more prestige than a king. Where an emperor's prestige stands depends solely on who is doing the comparison.
The current Osarian Emperor is Neb-Ka Sulzain and is the 14th successor.
Requirements
An Emperor successor is required to be a member of a royal family within the walls of the Osarian Empire. If the previous Emperor had a heir that was of age, he would take on the responsibility of Emperor at the death of his father without a council being called.
Appointment
The Emperor is elected via the council of princes, a group of royal leaders within the Empire. These are typically the elders of the family, ones who have stepped down as leader but still offer sage advice to the rest of the family. They have agreed to forgo their chances at being emperor and take on the title of prince-elect.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Most Emperors are removed upon their death. This has lead to many assassination attempts to remove the current throne.
