Mythology
The Birth of Light: It is said that when the primordial dark first coiled around the world, Soldeus ignited the first flame — the sun — as both weapon and shield. With it, he pierced the void and brought the first day to Wakodia.
The Gift of a Son: Soldeus and Lunara together created Alexandros Bloodflame, a divine child born of sun and moon. Rather than raise him as a god, they entrusted Alexandros to the mortal world — a symbol of divine faith in humanity. He would go on to become a demigod hero, sealing the Betrayer Gods and guiding mortal civilizations.
The Blessing of Friends: Alongside his divine partner, Soldeus also bestowed blessings on Alexandros’s childhood companions — Agápi and Lagniá — imbuing them with the sparks of love and beauty, respectively.
Appearance
Soldeus appears as a radiant humanoid figure — statuesque, strong, and wreathed in burning gold. His beard glows like braided flame, and his sunburst crown never dims. His armor is seamless light, shaped into divine form. Wherever he walks, shadows recoil.
Symbol
A
radiant golden sunburst, often surrounded by
halos of flame, representing his ever-present light and protection.
Worship and Practices
Worshipers of Soldeus offer prayers at dawn, lighting braziers or candles as symbolic beacons. His major festival, the
Dawnfire Celebration, marks the return of light after the longest night and is observed with parades, offerings, and public acts of justice.
His temples — often called
Sunshrines or
Halls of Radiance — are bright, open spaces filled with polished stone, stained glass, and roaring flames. Central braziers are kept eternally lit in his name.
Clergy and Orders
Order of Radiance: The primary order of Soldeus’s clergy, focused on leadership, guardianship, and moral clarity. They serve as judges, defenders, and priests in equal measure, dressed in white and gold robes.
Relationship with Lunara
Soldeus shares a divine partnership with
Lunara, the Serene Mother. Together they represent the balance of day and night, action and reflection. Their union produced Alexandros, and their shared religion — the
The Twin Luminarie— is one of the most widespread faiths in Wakodia.
Public Perception
Among mortals, Soldeus is both
revered and
feared — a god whose justice is firm, but whose love is unwavering. His faith is strongest in the
Heilig Empire, where his cathedrals rise like blazing towers over human cities. While non-human races may honor other deities, they often show Soldeus respect as a paragon of divine justice.
Legacy
Soldeus’s presence endures in every oath sworn beneath the sun, in every light that banishes darkness. His legacy lives through his son Alexandros, through the Order of Radiance, and through every just ruler who seeks to guard rather than dominate.
