Overview

Ravencroft's Candy Factory was a hauntingly whimsical structure nestled within the twisted paths of the Mistmire Swamp. From the outside, it appeared like something from a child's dream—gingerbread trim, softly glowing windows, and the scent of sugar drifting through the fog. In truth, it was a house of horror operated by the Candy Hag Nisrilla, using illusion and enchantment to conceal her sinister practices.   Its halls were lined with enchanted machinery, sentient candy constructs, and eerily cheerful decorations. Laughter echoed from unseen children, and music boxes played themselves as visitors were guided deeper into the trap. Here, Nisrilla fed on joy, sorrow, and innocence alike. Only those who "believed" could cross the invisible bridge leading into the factory, suspended above the swamp.

Key Features

Invisible Bridge: A magical crossing that only manifested for those who believed in it, spanning the swamp and isolating the factory from casual travelers.
Gingerbread Gates: The factory's arched entrance was made of chocolate-colored wood and frosted with sticky sugar. Animated gargoyle-like candy faces smiled at guests.
The Ribbon Hall: A grand foyer draped in pastel curtains and floating taffy lights. Enchanted music played from nowhere.
The Candy Line: A working assembly line of magically imbued sweets. Some induced dreams, others dulled the will. Rumors say the ingredients included memories, tears, and human remains.
Gloomsyrup Vatroom: A hidden chamber where Nisrilla performed dark rituals over vats of blackened syrup—fueling her magic and enchanting her confections.
Children’s Loft: A sealed upper floor where captured children were kept in enchanted slumber, suspended in webs of sugar filament. Their dreams fed the factory’s power.
Narrisa's Office: Lavishly decorated and veiled in illusion, this room included a feathery blue door, a lacquered desk, and a raven familiar named Jailbird. Here she made deals, lied to visitors, and watched over her operations.
Candy Basement (Secret Room): Hidden behind a concealed door. Here, dark experiments were conducted—vials of unknown liquids, cannibalistic ingredients, and strange magical tools were found, including a floating black greatsword with drifting gray motes.

Revealed Truth

Once the illusion was pierced, the factory’s true nature emerged. The vibrant sweets turned to rot, cheerful machinery into rusted, gore-stained tools. The children were gaunt and filth-covered, carrying pieces of decayed meat instead of candy. Nisrilla's guards were revealed as redcaps—malevolent fey in sickles and top hats.   The children, trapped in comas from magical sugar overload, were left unconscious. One child’s mutilated remains, hidden in a labeled box, revealed the true horror of the so-called "Secret Formula."   A forged pin, a compass, enchanted candy, and a corrupted microphone were among the remnants salvaged by the party. The party also discovered ledgers, recipes, and dark alcohols hidden in Nisrilla’s private chambers.

Destruction

After Nisrilla’s defeat, the illusions collapsed. Constructed servants turned to ash, and the factory revealed its true form: a sagging, haunted wooden structure cloaked in sticky smoke and bitter magic.   The children were evacuated by Grimble and taken north to safety. Nisrilla’s corrupt spellwork was partially undone, but traces of her power still cling to the swamp.   Before leaving, the party set fire to the structure, watching the candy-coated nightmare finally burn away.
