Chromatic Dragons

The Corrupted Guardians

Chromatic Dragons were once noble defenders of Wakodia, created by Drakhalos to embody the primal forces of the world. During the Arcane Cataclysm, they were sent to aid mortals in their battle against the Betrayer Gods. However, their exposure to the Betrayers’ influence corrupted their nature, transforming them into embodiments of destruction, greed, and chaos. Now feared and reviled, chromatic dragons dominate the darkest corners of Wakodia, their legacy forever stained by betrayal.

Behavior and Society

Chromatic dragons are fiercely independent, territorial, and often tyrannical. They dominate their chosen environments, enforcing their will on weaker creatures. Their corrupted nature drives them to revel in chaos and destruction, making them some of the most dangerous beings in Wakodia. Unlike metallic dragons, they rarely form alliances with mortals, viewing them as tools or prey.

Role in History

Chromatic dragons were pivotal in the Arcane Cataclysm, fighting alongside mortals against the Betrayer Gods before their corruption. Since then, they have become symbols of terror and destruction, shaping Wakodia’s landscapes and histories with their wrath. Mortals remember them as both heroes and villains, their legacy as conflicted as their nature.

Relationships with Other Species

  • Mortals: Chromatic dragons inspire fear and hatred among mortals, who often associate them with ruin and tyranny.
  • Metallic Dragons: Relations are deeply hostile, with metallic dragons viewing their chromatic kin as tragic but irredeemable enemies.
  • Dragonborn: Chromatic dragonborn are often distrusted, seen as tainted by their draconic ancestors’ corruption.

Legacy

Chromatic dragons remain a testament to the power and danger of the Betrayer Gods. Their corruption serves as a warning of the cost of imbalance and the fragility of even the mightiest beings. Despite their fall, some believe redemption is possible, a hope whispered in the darkest corners of Wakodia.
