The Godguard
Funded by the taxpayers of Zevemlya, the Godguard ostensibly exists to protect Galvander . However, as there is rarely enything resembling a threat to his actual person, the Godguard instead are often brought about to defend his religious and sacred places. It exists now, largely to prevent theft of those places, and is often used to violently quell riots. The military academies of Zevemlya seek to train, through brutal action, those worthy of joining the guard.
This group has, since its inception caused an increase in class tensions, and enforces the brutal government tyranny of their undying lord. During times of war, the guard is supposed to be a defensive force, but as the mists do more work to defend the kingdom than any force of arm ever could, they have rarely been needed for that purpose. The Godguard speak with the authority of the Godking, and only the highest of priests or the head inquisitors of the Ghostmist Lodge have similarsway in Zevemlyan politics.
Marked by their dragonscale gear, they are a sight to behold, as only they and the dragonriders are permitted the special honor of wearing the scaless of the sacred servant beasts.
