Kat Chiron's Summer Camp Prep 2025
Summer Camp has come along at the perfect time to get me out of a funk I've been in for quite a while!
I'm pledging to make this my focus for the next two months and then following that with an immersion into everybody else's worlds during the Reading challenge. And my crazy aim is to complete at least 32 prompts in a state of enjoyment and calmness. So I have decided to be a Dewy Diamond this year! Let me know if this is the path you are following too!
My world of Vyrvania is what I plan to use for the majority of the prompts, but if prompts don't fit I will work on Merlin's Gate.
So without further ado I'm going to dive into the homework...
Homework - Week 1
Assignment 1
Week 1's Theme is Nourishment - In Vyrvania the main form of nourishment is the blood products the vampyr consume to keep them from becoming diseased or revenants. So this could cover the creation of the blood products and the 'science' behind how it works to keep the vampyr in a good state of health. There is also the nourishment of the mind and soul (if they even have one!) to consider. Because vampyrs can be hundreds, and even thousands of years old, they must need to nourish their minds and (souls?) in order to stay sane after all they've seen and done!Assignment 2

Assignment 1
Week 2's Theme is Roots - My first thoughts for this are the Creation myth of Vyrvania. Garrick Thornwood is the founder of Vyrvania but there are many stories about where he came from so these stories may answer some of the prompts for this week. Other roots to explore could be through the many traditions that the people of Vyrvania follow i.e. why do they celebrate the Blood Moon; why do they follow strict rules when it comes to intimate relationships etc.Assignment 2
I'm happy with the colour scheme of the world and homepage, but the homepage could do with more graphics and a better navigation system to draw visitors in. UPDATE: I've just added a character banner to my homepage.Assignment 3
All my worlds on WA are my earliest worldbuilding unless you count the worldbuilding in my head for previous writing projects. Vyrvania shows how I've improved by experimenting with CSS and layout. I could probably do with sketching out how I want my world to look before starting it as now I'm finding it hard to keep track of things!Homework - Week 3
Assignment 1
Week 3's Theme is Metamorphosis - Straight away I think of The Fortune Seeker, Kymera Starr. She is a chimera and goes through a metamorphosis every 200 years. We could look at how, where and when, a chimera goes through metamorphosis. As for transformations and adaptations in the world the main one that comes to mind is how they've changed their feeding habits from victim-feeding to the use of manufactured blood products. Have they lost anything or been compromised by this new way of feeding?Assignment 2
I'm going to take a look at Vampire: The Masquerade resources that I have as I feel that the style is much darker than I write but may give me more ideas and inspiration!Assignment 3

Assignment 1
Week 4's Theme is Tomorrow - Garrick Thornwood is about to hand over his role of leader of Vyrvania to his eldest son, Ed. This will likely have a huge impact on the future of Vyrvania since Garrick has been the sole leader and founder of Vyrvania. The outcome of the 'Finding Serafina' storyline could also make a huge difference to the lives of Garrick and the rest of the Thornwood family.Assignment 2
Writing schedule and space - During Summer Camp I plan to work on my Summer camp prompts most days as I want to achieve that Diamond badge! But to give myself the best writing energy I definitely need to have a big tidy up of my writing space! Worldbuilding resources - WA Learn & Courses sections, WA blog articles, Worldbuilding guides by Angeline Trevena, Writing craft books, Vampire fiction and reference books, Vampire Films & TV series. Stubs - I have quite a few stubs that might be relevant to the Summer Camp prompts, but I might create a few more!Assignment 3
Community - I occasionally post in the WA Discord and browse it regularly for help and inspiration. Throughout the Summer Camp homework I've been visiting many worlds on WA and hope to continue that during the challenge as it's a reminder that we're not alone in the joy of worldbuilding! I also plan on joining some of my fellow worldbuilders livestreams for motivation and inspiration to work on the prompts. Here's looking forward to taking part in this challenge and being inspired by all the wonderful worldbuilding going on!
