Sages of Death
When the natural world collides with the dark forces of magic, what comes next is a new breed of Necromancer. Herbal Necromancers that combine the powers life, death and nature itself. But who were the first? Why, the Sages of Death of course. A group of outcasts and banished magic wielders who came together through destiny to form a formidable group that could bring the current world to kneel before them.
To the public, the original Sages were merely titles of corrupted beings with an affinity to multiple forms of magic. Twisting what was once pure into something beyond recognition.
Before the Cytal Civil War, at the end of dark times, fate took a disliking to the original seven. Introducing them and seducing them to dark magic and forcing them to become outcasts from society. When they tried to join other necromancers, they were turned away once again out of fear and confusion to their unique attachment to magical essence. Eventually, destiny brought unfortunate souls together by crossing their paths. Giving birth to the creation of the first Herbal Necromancers.
As time went on, the powers of the sages grew. Their knowledge past between them and written down inside a grimoire of spells, incantations and rituals known as the Herbal Necronomicon. A book which contained some of the most powerful new spells that the sages could conjure. Spells which led to the near destruction of all things. Starting with the quaint little town of Moss Branch. A spell which grew out of control but was kept at bay by the original seven.
Seeing how much destruction their magic could cause, a few of the sages began to question if they were worthy of possessing such power. Writing all this dangerous magic into a singular book seemed to be a recipe for disaster. So in a turn of events, the doubting ones devised a plan to steal the book and hide it so no more harm could be done to the world. This plan of deceit was a success but seeded distrust between the sages who were unaware. Some turned their backs on the group, accusations were thrown and even violence amongst members broke out. Eventually the sages disbanded. Turning into nothing more than a scary story told throughout the South Plains of Cytal.
Although the sages were no more, their ideas of mixing dark magic with nature spread. Giving life to a new age of Herbal Necromancers that roam the realm in the present. Some wish to find the hidden Herbal Necronomicon and others wish to reform the sages to claim power and dominance over the realm.
The Seven
To the public, the original Sages were merely titles of corrupted beings with an affinity to multiple forms of magic. Twisting what was once pure into something beyond recognition.
